Oh Geez...

So today when I was flailing at the screen with my cane in class to make a point I was thinking 'gee this seems somehow familiar' but chalked it up to my preference for using a ruler over my laser pointer....

Then i used my cane to punch the elevator buttons and I realized, 'Oh damn, I'm House!' Granted my students probably already think I AM as big a dick as House but there you have it.

Decided to stop for fast food since I was up doing laundry in Jackson until nearly 7 PM. MISTAKE. Been throwing it up ever since. I think it's time to accept with my stomach issues I can no longer eat fried things.

I did however get the world's cutest wrapping paper at Big Lots. Yes i loathe buying anything seasonal before turkey day but there wasn't much of this and I HAD to have it.

Been borrowing trouble at work this week. It's put me in a vile mood. Is listening to my meditations to help let go of that anger to and keep my nose out of this crap.

Also trying to hit 40K tonight. wish me luck

ETA - if you and I woke up in jail together, tell me (in only four words) what you would say to me. Snagged from several on the list

I'm actually watching House right now (the bus crash episode). Did I miss the diagnosis for you knee? Is it fractured?

Do you almost kill people before you figure out what's ailing them? If so, you might be House.

The truth is I've only seen maybe half a dozen episodes of the show, although I keep up a little in TV Guide. House is a great character; I just don't have time to devote to another show.

i liked the show for about two years then after that it was far too much of a soap opera for me

Many of my favorite shows are soap opera to some degree -- to me it's all about the characters, plot and situation, and whether they're a good combination of original and fun. Right now Glee is the latest to meet that criteria for me, although if my daughter hadn't been in show choir I probably never would have tried it.

and I've always eschewed soaps. That's what i loved so much about Law and Order. We did NOT learn anything much about their lives and I was happy. When SVU and CI started making it all about the cops and not the cases, I've more or less stopped watching. At least NCIS manages to balance the two and the cases where they lean into too much about the personal lives, those are the eppies i've liked least.

I suppose outside of the 'mystery' genre I want characters with strong personalities but still the overly dramatic soapy stuff...i still don't want it Probably the closest thing I watch to a soap would be Castle but those characters are such fun (okay Heroes but i more or less barely look at that any more)

That's one of the reasons I *don't* watch those shows, the other being that after 8 hours of being in dispatch, I'm just not eager to watch stuff about police work again. I like the mystery; but I want to know about the characters, too. When I write, I come up with the plot first, but I can't proceed until I have good, strong characters to solve the problems I've presented.

Maybe soap isn't quite the right word, since with TV shows I'm not a huge fan of the really long, convoluted personal storylines (as opposed to long plot arcs, which I am a fan of). If a problem could be solved in five minutes by two people just talking it out, I want the darn thing solved!

In the end, it's all about whether I'm having fun. If I'm suffering as much as the characters, it's not a show for me.

and that's why i don't watch medical shows. Totally understandable

My #1 pet peeve with Buffy and Angel, so many times in the later years especially that this was what causes the entire drama. I just reread an old fanfic of mine when one character asked why they did this all the time.

but yes, a show has to be fun.I've never understood people who bash TV because we're not learning anything (and obviously these people have never tuned in to Nat Geo, Discover,History etc) Sometimes you need to turn off the brain and just have fun
