cornerofmadness: (no sleep)
PT at 9 AM followed up by a corticosteroid injection into your ass muscle. Speficially the glut medius and glut minimus at their insertion spot, the trochanter of the thigh. It required ultra sound to jam (look away needlephobes) the huge ass big ass needle into the spot. At one point I almost fell off the table. I thought he literally jammed in the needle but it was his freaking finger hitting the really bad spot. Well Doc you found where to put the medicine. It was good when the novacain was working but holy crap it feels like he shot me with a .9mm thank god for my cane.

Doc was shocked how bad my knee was. Not so much my fall but he's like WOW your knee isn't really attached to much is it? Most people with knees this back have them replaced by your age so I guess I'm going okay. But let's face it I'll be having replacements of my hip and knee before I leave this earth unless I go soon (hoping not)

I'm still not sure how much sitting driving walking I'll be able to do. Going to Reno/Virigina City is possible but then I'm thinking that's an 8 hour drive from Salt Lake where I KNOW I'll be next year. snooze.

X-Files )

I've decided I need to make a change in my writing habits. ELD was going to try to write 1000 words per day. It's working about as well as anything I'm doing. I think I'll set my sights lower, like 100 words. 2 hours i've not even looked at the file. go me.

I was so busy over my vacation I never had the time to go through my professional email account. My story Unquiet Ghosts (which was really a scene from a novel that I decided was too racy to keep in there and worked up as a short story) was accepted for publication in [livejournal.com profile] circletpress's Sex Magick anthology!

YAY. Will let you know down the line about availabilities and the like.

ETA - now that I'm awake I've spelled their user name right

I decided to take a page out of [livejournal.com profile] masqthephlsphr's book and start doing a weekly run down of my original fiction writing simply to help keep me focused

Markets researched - two actually. Has printed out an older story to work on since I think it might fit one of the vampire erotica ones

Original fiction written - I'm actually making good progress on my YA werewolf/seer story Splinters of Silver and Cold Iron which is good since i need it for my writers' group soon.

Editing done - got another chapter of Machiavelli Moon edited and it occurs to me that I should dig out the outline and fix it as I go. I need to edit Until the Ice Breaks as well since i needs to go up for the writers group on friday...

Editing of others - none. I lose

Writerly thought - zero. Too consumed by test making

my yearly progress (let's see if I can make this work)

and now I need YOUR help. Machiavelli Moon has made it into the first round at the Amazon breakthrough novel.

The excerpt can be can be read here

All entries can be found here

For those who haven't heard me babbling enough about Machiavelli Moon, it's an urban fantasy set in Deadwood South Dakota, written during the year and the year after I lived and worked in South Dakota (mostly in Hot Springs and Pine Ridge Reservation, I DID get to fulfill one of my life ambitions with that one). Basic rundown, Maddelena, a very old vampire runs a hotel casino there and is friends with the local werewolf pack. Both vampires and werewolves are out in the open. Maddie is into politics and a visit from another old vampire, friend and Praetor ends with murder.

This is a you vote for me (or for any of the novels you see at the main contest) sort of a deal. So if you go, read it, like it, please do vote for me. If you get there and find someone you like better, well then, vote for them. I'll understand.

EYA - [livejournal.com profile] mjules c&p'ed the two reviews I got and I thought I'd share them (THANKS!)

I once spent an entertaining day in Deadwood, South Dakota during the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. However, if it had been filled with vampires and werewolves I probably would've fled on my Hog long before sunset. But then again, I might have enjoyed a drink at the Silvermoon Hotel's bar, capably run even during daylight by savvy vampire Maddelena. Maddelena's old enough so the sun doesn't bother her, and she has hundreds of years' experience owning and operating quality establishments. She's a strong-willed and solid citizen of an altered Deadwood, in a world where human and non-human histories have long intertwined (for example, vampires and werewolves served in Vietnam).

This book is stalking Underworld and Twilight fans, and it should be a welcome addition to their undead ranks. I'm a fan of both the supernatural and alternate history genres, and it's nice to see them merged. I'd certainly like to follow the saga of Maddelena and her cohorts to see how events transpire. Although the sensual aspects of the story appear to be geared more toward female readers, I still want to sink my claws into the final product. The characters are intriguing, their dialogue flows, and events transpire within a reasonably constructed world where the normal and paranormal coexist.

In all fairness, being female, I'm sure I do appeal more to women but hey these are both wonderful. I'm pleased

ETA 2 - okay so the link Amazon gave out to the other entries doesn't appear to be working. Nor can you vote with that's here. SIgh. I've asked a few of my veteran friends how this all works and I'll make another post.

But for now I'm on my way to PA
