I talked to evil_little_dog as I read it and this is that commentary with more comments inserted after the fact in italics. To be honest, I had severely mixed feelings about this one. I fully expected everyone to be saved and was glad of it. that said, the heroes of the story have seriously taken a backseat and have to rely entirely on everyone else to save them. It certainly looks like that is over next time and I hope that's the case.

Also I am very disappointed that Father didn't DO anything but sit on his throne looking constipated (somehow apropos) and trade insults and a few blows with Hohenheim. I really wanted him to do something more than he did (okay yeah he manifested a sun but...)

Okay, I know that they need someone with different alchemy to make this work. They've been making this point about the differences all along but I'm completely and utterly tired of Mei Sue to the rescue. I've lost track of how many times she's saved them now. It bothers me as a writer on several levels that the heroes we've been following for so long are now reduced to impotency and have been relying on Mei for almost a dozen episodes now

Seriously. If I didn't already love this series so much, this would have totally put me off of it. It's utterly stupid and unbelievable. At least Bradley fell down and eventually died instead of armlessly trying to carve an array but still. This just did not work for me

actually it's less fan service the hermaphrodite thing, than actual alchemy Ah, sorry you misunderstand. I get that, I was more referring to the old geezer goes six-pack abs, you know? And then wondering - ok, so homunculus current form is supposed to be intersexual now?It's just Envy looked more androgynous that this...container. I meant I was trying and failing to find hints of femininity (and wondering if there was something in biology or even mythology that I'd missed.) ^^;

I think Bradley versus Xing gang was intense, but it's sort of wound down the last couple of chapters. It's like just waiting on Bradley to just croak, because we knew he would.

You remember Pride absorbing Gluttony? I wonder what the result would have been if Greelin had likewise consumed ugly chibi!Envy.

Oh, and here's betting that the Stone RanFan found on Bradley will be used before it ever gets to Xing (sure there's a 50% chance I'm wrong, but I just like to speculate occasionally.)

I agree with disappointment in Roy's current inactivity. I think it would be delicious irony if Hoho actually survived this - oh, ok, I'll make you happy and say May got killed in the backlash because of it. Do you think there's something like alchemy induced over-exhaustion?

I think Scar plans on using Ran fan's stone right now frankly where or not she likes it.

I think there could indeed be alchemy induced exhaustion.

Now that I actually LIKE Hoho I hope he does make it.

I think Scar plans on using Ran fan's stone right now frankly where or not she likes it. There is that possibility. Though it seems like he's holding his own with the reverse circle. Who knows, RanFan may let it be used to patch him up (though he seemed alright for someone that hacked into.)

Yeah, I think Hoho still has potential as a character with continued survival. Now if only someone - whether it'd be Ed & Al or Izumi & Roy - could have him stave off the suicede plans. ^^; *pouts* I don't like suicidal characters (though Hoho is an improvement from the usual emo types, especially now that he's kicking ass.)

And, even though I'm very happy people of amestris did indeed survive, the alternative still has so much fic potential. ^__^

Yeah I think Hoho's reasons to be suicidal are at least understandable. He has lived far too long and he's ready
