springkink for the prompt - Sanzo/Goku: comfort, strength - The only nightmares he had involved snow. Goku had overcome it, but when it snowed hard enough to fill in their footprints almost as they made them, it frightened him. Thanks to
evil_little_dog for the beta. sneaking it in under the wire.

Goku romped after a hare, snow flying from his boots. He ignored the shouts of, ‘Don’t get lost, stupid monkey!’ It wasn’t like he couldn’t sniff his way back and the others wouldn’t leave without him. They were taking a few moments to uncramp their legs and turn some snow yellow anyhow.
As he followed the bunny, snow continued to fall. Fat wet flakes stuck to his lashes, half blinding him. When he finally lost sight of the hare in the thicket, Goku realized the snow had already filled in his footsteps. The woods were soft and silent with snow. For a moment, he was the only living thing in the world. There was no sound, nothing but whiteness all around. It was like he was on the mountain again. He was in his cage. Goku's heart thudded. He wheeled around, racing toward his friends. He could still smell his trail but it was blowing away quickly.
It felt like he couldn't breathe again until he saw Jeep. Goku knew that was silly. He'd been dragging air in to catch the scent trail. Still, the air felt like it wouldn't go into his lungs.
“Get in the Jeep, idiot,” Sanzo called, already in the passenger seat next to Hakkai.
Goku didn't get the chance to tell them he was glad to see them but he probably wouldn't have anyhow. He climbed in beside Gojyo and they got under way. Crossing his arms against the wind, Goku slipped into a bubble of silence. He wasn't really aware of it until Gojyo nudged him.
“Something wrong, monkey?”
“Nothing, cockroach.”
There was but Goku couldn't tell him that. They would laugh at him. Well, maybe not, but it would feel like it. The only nightmares he had involved snow. Goku had overcome it, but when it snowed hard enough to fill in their footprints almost as they made them, it frightened him. He knew he was safe now, free, but sometimes he still feel trapped when the weather got as cold and snowy as it was now. He forgot he had friends to would take care of him.
The unease settled into his bones until finally the sun began to set and they found rooms at the edge of some small town. Even the meal, which he only picked at – well picked at the way his appetite described it – didn't take the edge off his nervousness. Goku couldn't even settle on his bed, which was hard but better than sleeping outside tonight. He squirmed, trying to get comfortable. He had on only his boxers but it was cool enough that he should probably reconsider even though the cold didn’t seem to affect him like it did the others.
“Can't you lay still?” Sanzo grumbled, peering at Goku from where he stretched out on his bed.
Goku popped up and sat on the bed with him. “I don't like the snow.”
Sanzo's pale brow knit. “I thought you were over all of this.”
“A little.” Goku shrugged. “Still bugs me some.”
Sanzo touched Goku's hand. “I knew it had to be pretty bad when it took a lot to lure you out. Even the promise of food didn't get you going that first time.”
Goku huffed, lying back next to Sanzo. “It was scary on the mountain. I thought no one but me was alive. I was there so long...” he sighed. “I like being with someone when it snows. I like being with you.”
“You planning on staying in my bed?”
Goku twisted, nuzzling Sanzo. “Yeah.”
The priest sighed, shifting to make room for him. Sanzo's hand slid up Goku's thigh and the younger man relaxed.
“Your hand feels good,” Goku said, arching into that comforting touch. “The snow makes me weak but you're always strong, Sanzo.”
“That's not true,” Sanzo whispered. “And you are not weak. We all have something that scares us.”
“Good, I mean, good that I’m not weird or something.” Goku said, tugging up Sanzo's robe. His callused hand found the priest's awakening shaft, caressing it.
Sanzo made a noise than could almost have been a laugh. “I never said you weren’t weird.”
Goku pressed against Sanzo’s hand as the man’s long fingers made their way into Goku’s boxers to stroke him. “I think weird’s okay for us.”
Sanzo nipped Goku’s bare shoulder, his touch on Goku’s cock strengthening. “Weird is good.”
Goku grinned, giving his hand a lick before returning it to Sanzo’s shaft. He didn’t really need sex tonight. What Goku wanted was the reminder that he wasn’t alone in the snow. He needed to be close to Sanzo, to hear the man’s, his savior’s, heart beating. The sure, strong hand bringing him off was a bonus. Sanzo’s mere touch was the solace Goku needed. They nuzzled, stroked, licked and finally gave in to their bodies’ demands.
After a quick clean up, they both snuggled into Goku’s bed. Sanzo fell asleep quickly but Goku knew he might not stay that way long. He wrapped around the taller man, feeling his chest moving against his. Let it snow outside. In here, in Sanzo’s arms, he was safe.
