I had an army recruiter come talk to my pre-professional math/science club about getting the army to pay for things. I tried to do this back in the day (okay with the air force). I wanted to, badly. It didn't work out. If I had known when I was injured that they not only do medical school but also physical therapist, physician assistant, pharmacist and more I would have tried it. Surprisingly enough, I'm NOT too old but I am too ill. I wasn't back when I got hurt. Hmmm, missed opportunities make me sad. I was also not impressed that I have the same monthly pay as they give the butter bars in school and the recruiter is like 'you can live okay on this stipend.' Yeah... He is also a medic and will be back for a veterans thing here on campus. I might corner him for my story. He's a talker.
I feel like hell today. Not sure why. I felt fine, even woke up early. Hit the parking lot at work and it was like someone pulled my plug. I've been lackluster all day.
I LOVE that Wil Wheaton is as geeky as most of my friends. His blog with pics from Emerald Con
And this should make your hair curl and skin creep. This is going too far I don't even say anything about work on my Facebook but I don't believe that any company should have the right to compell you to give them your password so they can snoop on you. I could see this having a severely negative affect on all types of social media

It's a shame with all the things we were trying to come up with when you hurt your hand in the first place we didn't consider the military.

Wil Wheaton is fantastic. He amuses me.
Yeah I heard about that password thing. There is no way they're justified in asking for personal non-work related information like that. It's very creepy.

He is. I never really expected that of him. After seeing him on BBT I found him on twitter and he is very much like someone I could hang out with.
it's definitely creepy

Date: 2012-04-04 11:23 pm (UTC)I do love the interviews that I've gotten though when people ask me if I have a facebook and I tell them no. I seriously think that most of them think I'm lying since I haven't gotten any callbacks. :/

Date: 2012-04-05 02:21 am (UTC)Oh geez and they probably do think that. Mine's not really under my real name and I think that's an issue too. How do I know they're not looking at the WRONG person thinking it's me

Date: 2012-04-05 04:07 am (UTC)I would like to think they could tell from the pictures that isn't the person in front of them but I found that sometimes they don't think to far ahead like that. I've had some people tell me that they made a facebook with their real name and just made a couple of mundane posts while having their real one under a false name. That way the employers find the fake one. But that just seems really complicated and having to have people 'in' on it which can backfire if you upset the wrong person.

Date: 2012-04-05 04:13 am (UTC)I don't use a real picture of me 90% of the time and I wonder if we even get to the interview stage if they think they have the right person and already hate them.
that does sound complicated. It IS speaking as someone who has this persona (my real self) and my author persona already
