I think my house hunting has into a true farce at this point. I was going to wait until tomorrow to go to Jackson to grocery shop/do laundry/house hunt but then I realize I had no idea why I thought that was a good idea when I had Good Friday off. I head north armed with another half dozen good possibilities for houses.
First I went up High street in search of two but one was on N. High and the other W. High (which doesn’t seem to exist as far as my GPS is concerned). a cute cottage in the town
not bad
Hey some space between the neighbors.
uh-oh UH-OH! What’s wrong with the roof?
I tried to go out to 2 foreclosure houses. GPS didn’t know them last time so I printed out Google Map directions which took me into pure Appalachia. Holy hell. Rotting, seriously decaying trailers everywhere, some looking like the forest and them have melded and yet cars are outside of them. Map directions only work when there are street signs and given the truly frightening path to the place I said, um you know what? No!
So I head out to Four Mile Cemetery Road to see this place. manufactured house. I know where Four Mile Rd is but never been on the cemetery extension. My cat kennel is out there. My Amish greenhouse is out there. In fact the only thing out there are Amish and yuppies so I know it’s an area I like. I found the much vaunted and delicious Amish bakery on this run but I pick up a moron in a truck just bearing down on me so when Maggie the Magellan says turn left now I do…right onto a dirt road. Oh it’s the right road all right. It goes past a cemetery I’d love to go back to but the road to the house is a shared drive. Um no. I mean, I’ve already lived on dirt roads but I don’t want a shared drive. No pictures since the dogs nearly ate my car and chased me to the highway. I almost hit a potential neighbor’s chickens. Maybe I should just stick with the manufactured house with the hot pink kitchen on Four Mile but it’s nearly 100K for a doublewide…
I head out to go see the little A frame I posted last night. It reminds me so much of my friend’s Zog’s place in WI. Not that he has an A frame but the setting is right. On the way out there I see this place.
Hmmm not bad. Never heard of the realtor but she’s online and this looks to be sold soon. Darn
Right down the street (closer to the highway) is this one
. I came home to look it up on Appalachia Realty but I don’t see it so I’m thinking it’s above 150K WAAAH. This is a great place. This is just about everything I’d want in a home at first glance.
I get to the A Frame and I kinda like it…a lot.
my neighbors to the left.
my neighbors to the right
my neighbors across the street.
the house. Okay so I’ll need to add 10K to that 38K selling price so I can blacktop my driveway.
close up. I’m not comfortable getting out and wandering around alone without a realtor or someone there so I didn’t try to get up the washed out drive any further. Heck there’s so much land, I could add on another 30K worth of adding on and STILL be under 70K. Hmmmm possibilities.
So I head back to C H &D road to look for a house (and I saw it online this morning but you’d think I’d be able to find it now, no). It has a well drilled on my property. Hmmm not that fond of that idea BUT it is out in the country a little and it is closer to school than Jackson. I go out there. Not bad. Mostly pasture land. I look around and I think, ‘were those rushes?’ Maybe. Hey was that the house? I think so but Maggie doesn’t. I drive past…and now I’m sure it’s rushes. This is wetland ecology. I know it. I see it. Maggie tells me I’m there at a swamp filled with water lilies. Um… I turn around convinced the house I thought was it, was in fact IT but as I drive back I notice what I didn’t see. High Water Area signs on land higher than what that house was sitting on. Oh hell no. I just kept on driving.
I also got Long John's for dinner being Good Friday and all. WHY? I know I can't eat fried foods but I've always loved that batter. I don't want the fish. You could just fry me up some batter...my stomach is SO pissed off. Ginger worked briefly.
I sent in my proposal to study in Wales. UK friends, I can only find ONE tour group that does the stones of Wales. If you know of one I can check out online link me up please!
I sent in my novella cover request and got back my edits (second round) today. We're getting closer

Date: 2012-04-07 01:29 pm (UTC)LOL Wyatt and I have had that same conversation about the LJS batter. The little crunchies that come with the fish and more meal are the best part.

Date: 2012-04-07 02:15 pm (UTC)seriously they are. Back in the 70's when they first came out you could get a side order of the crunchies.
