So Mom thought it was perfect timing for me to be looking for my house. We found a new website. Too damn bad Nelsonville is nearly 60 miles away (though one of my coworkers DOES live there). What gorgeous Victorians it has. The new realtors (two of them actually) didn't have much. Here was the best. Do click on the additional photos for full affect

I like this one It's in Albany which is where I want to be. Is this the prettiest of homes? Hell no but it's nice inside and in a good area. It's about 30 miles from work.

You’re looking at 2 trailers having sex seriously. That's what it looks like. Looking inside, it IS pretty. The land is pretty. I'm in Athens but maybe a bit too close to the college and too far from mine (okay it's only about 7 miles more than the brown house but the red lights come into play here)

why so cheap? I don't know but I want to. There's like a little studio that comes with this as well. Again not much to look at (hell I saw a house for more than this which was sagging in the middle. This is a palace in comparison) but still for that money I can do things to improve it. A tad further from work than ideal but not bad.

And my timing SUCKS. It always has. There's a contract pending here but it doesn't say that on mom's version. I don't know where Middleport is other than southeast since it's 35 miles from school yet 35 miles from Athens (which is northeast). I've looked at Middleport last year too. I would be alone. Average income is under 30K. It's heyday was more than 100 years ago. But my god the houses you can get there for cheap that are so freaking gorgeous. I don't really want to be this far from all my friends but for this house, what's 30 miles? Want this like burning Mom is determined to call and see if the contract is going thru or not.

And are glamor shots ever a good idea

declutter day 13 item tossed -Pub t-shirt why kept -Cool shirt why tossed-shrank (seriously these things did shrink. I was 20 pounds heavier than I am now when I bought them)

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

OMG that last one is gorgeous!

isn't it though? There are a couple others in this town almost as nice (but wood, the brick really sells this place)

OMG that brick house!!!! In Arizona that would easily pull $100,000.00 -- or MORE. That is gorgeous. Many of them are, really.

But here in Arizona we're all like, "GO BUY IT NOW!!!" (If you can get the other bid pushed out.)

Glamour shots might be a good idea if you have a good makeup artist.

if that house was in Athens or Jackson it would easily be 200K that tells me just how bad off Middleport is. Outbidding the current person has crossed my mind.

you make a good point

Seriously, the more I looked at that house, the more I thought how much it would actually pull in the Arizona market -- 200K or 500K or more. Especially for the "all brick" part (so many 500K houses are stick-built out here)...

I don't doubt that. It's mired in a dying town. that's the reason for the price tag. Middle port was just that. midway on the Ohio River back in the coal barge days. I doubt it has anything resembling a viable economy now

Where my sister lives in AZ, there is this gorgeous two story that was made to look like a castle. Gorgeous windows. And apparently when it was built it did have a moat around it once upon a time.

I think it's been for sale for almost a year now. Sister thinks it is because of how much it would cost to keep it cool in the summer.

That's a challenge for many houses here -- stone and mortar are the best but SO many of the McMansions are stick-built energy-guzzling monstrosities.

same here. This apartment is a stick-built energy nightmare thanks to a near total lack of insulation

we had a castle-like one back home in PA and I just bet cooling a monster like that would be crazy expensive

I love that last house. Very, very cool.

The others all leave questions.

Yes, it's almost like there's a hellmouth around there...and considering all the mining.

I tried a glamor shot once. It was tears. I had the short pixie cut... they curled it to within an INCH of its life and all I could think was "TACKY SLUT!"... I thought glamor was AUDREY.

It's possible that SOMEWHERE a picture of that terribad exists.

yeah in most cases glamour shot = tacky.

hahaha now I want to see it

Those houses are pretty (even the trailers having sex). The first two look a little more spacious than the third and I wished they had taken pictures of the inside of the second building. It looks like they had a small garden going on too.

Ooo, that last one is very pretty indeed.

yes the third house is too small. I dislike the 2 websites we found for that area. compared to the ones in Jackson (a much smaller area) they suck. No info on sq footage, heating/sewage etc.

isn't that one lovely

ON the "mostest for the leastest"... with the amount of throw rugs they have there and the small peeks I had of the floor? They have flooring issues. But that's addressed easily enough. Putting down laminate flooring or tile is not cheap, but it's NOT the worst thing ever. Same for more inexpensive wall to wall carpet. "Low pile", NOT Berber is best for kitties.

I LOVE the last one... WOW. I wonder what their heating and cooling bills are...

yeah flooring problems, a kitchen tinier than is reasonable. Flooring I can handle (I'll just drag dad/brother down)

isn't that one grand? Who knows, probably more than I can afford. I'll be living in one room like Scrooge

While I don't like the exterior of the first house, the interior looks lovely. All those hardwood floors. Except that I, being the indifferent housekeeper that I am, couldn't help but think, 'omg, the upkeep on those things!" LOL

The exterior of the Victorian is gorgeous, but the interior... it's kind of hard to tell. DECLUTTER, PEOPLE! OMG!!!

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
the exterior of house one sucks. Hardwood if it's not high gloss is pretty easy upkeep (and easier on my allergies

that house was cluttered? We have wildly differing ideas on that I think

I really, really like the albany one!! All hardwood, updated, good area, lots of room, lots of land, near Athens and where you work - how can you beat that?! (and it's not THAT bad to look at... nice deck, clean...)

the last one is so dark... and looks like a rambler. but, hey, great price (that I wonder about too...)

and *clicks*

The Middleton house is fantastic!

Obviously the solution is for all your friends to buy homes in Middleton.
