If I had gone out star gazing again last night

maybe I would have seen the motherfucker who robbed my car. Luckily nothing was broken in the attempt but I lost both GPSes my new one and the older one which was going to be a Christmas gift for ELD. Sigh. I called the cops and my insurance. My landlord has security cameras but they're new and he doesn't really know how to use them, not to mention the security light is out so even if he DID record anything it probably was too dark. And my landlord's house was robbed (by a renter) and someone stole his trailer with 2 tractors on it (my landlord is a contractor). Nice. fucking meth heads around here. And naturally I'm leaving tomorrow so I'm afraid of getting back here to find the house robbed.

A cute K-9 cop showed up, took the report and said the people around here talk. He thinks there's a good chance they'll get them (I.e. the meth heads get in trouble and want to turn in other people to look 'helpful'). He also suggested it was likely a neighbor. Given my neighbors, yes it probably was. It was suggested they might have wanted them to get my home address since my car is about 1000 times better than anything else in my parking lot. good luck with that guys.

So if it wasn't a neighbor (who will notice my car being gone) I went to get timers for the lights. I was so mad, I went before I heated up the pizza. FOOL. That pizza went bad SO fast. I had to cobble dinner together since I had nothing out since Im leaving. sigh.

Also I wanted to get myself a treat at the Wal-Mart so I go to buy The Avengers. They don't have it. In fact they can't get it online and they don't plan on stocking it back. WTF? You have X-Men and the Matrix. For fuck's sake those are a decade old but you don't have a movie that's newer?? We have the combo set. Can someone explain these combo sets to me? AM I supposed to pay double the price just to give away one of the dvds? They're packaging Blu-ray together with non-Blu-ray. Okay MOST blu-rays play the non-Blu-ray dvds so much people get rid of the older machine. WHY would we want both version?

I came home, had bad pizza, burnt myself, skinned my wrist (don't ask because I don't know) and can't even pack the car because I'm afraid it'll be broken into. Just what I didn't want to do before a 4 hour drive, pack the car... sigh.

Well that sucks. We're seeing a lot of car burglaries here, too, which brings up the question of why so many people are leaving purses, wallets, and smart phones (and yeah, GPS's) in unlocked cars, overnight, in Florida, the larceny capital of the world. Apparently Ohio isn't far behind us in the larceny department, though because we're also the U.S.'s foremost pill mill, the creeps pillaging the cars at night are pill-heads, not meth-heads.

See if you can make your landlord install a deadbolt if he hasn't already (on _both_ doors, assuming you have a back one), and/or a security chain, and something to secure the windows. Anything to slow the fuckers down and make their "job" more difficult. Meth makes its users paranoid, so if they have to work at breaking in, they'll probably get panicky and leave. You also might invest in your own security camera. Anything, even a nanny-cam. If worse comes to worst, at least the police will have pictures to look at.

Nothing like having your safe space violated to ruin your vacation. But yeah, he's probably too stupid to _not_ get caught, so odds are your home will be safe while you're gone.

I only left the gpses in there because it never occurred to me to take it out. I leave nothing else because my college is ALWAYS getting robbed. We probably have pill heads too. We had students breaking in and robbing professors for drug money last semester.

I have dead bolts on both doors but anyone and anything can get past the plastic locks on my windows but I do lock them tight as I can. I might have to get a nanny cam for here ANd work

Nothing was. The fob that locks the door is worn out so the driver side didn't lock. I have replaced the fob.

My niece says she loves having the double discs, because her daughters always lose one of them.

I actually found myself glad of the double discs when we were watching our new Blu-Ray of "Wreck-It Ralph" and the Blu-Ray was corrupt, so was able to throw on the DVD and watch that, instead (and, plus, Disney replaced it for free without me having to send back the bad one, so now I have a spare).

Sorry about the car burglary. That sucks. :P
