well not really but damn the ONE place that delivers around here only carries top of the line stuff. As much as I want temperpedic, i can NOT afford a nearly 3,000$ mattress. The one I want is still really out of my price range but they did have a nice bed that would fit in my room (and gorgeous wood stuff that didn't)

went to the farmer's market. Um...wow bluegrass gospel live was playing. Shudders but now I have blackberry butter and pumpkin goat milk fudge

Trundled even further north to Columbus, hung out in Dublin cemetery. I'll show you pictures later. The road goes OVER the graves. It's disconcerting. Went to Borders for my Manga run because what's a girl without manga (richer, that's what she is. Betting [livejournal.com profile] m3sektet is rueing the day she got led into this, and OH can I see why you picked up Let Dai, lovely cover)

So I go to Macys which had the bed I wanted and teh price I wanted but they do NOT deliver here. JCPenny's on the other hand has NO beds in the store, just online. Um how the hell would I know I wanted that bed without trying it out.

Trundled to dinner at Chilis since i was dying for fajitas. Now I remember why i don't eat them (Should have went to Rude Dog's just for the name and had pub food) in public. I had the tropical sunrise (too expensive and too much pineapple)

went over to Barnes and Nobles to let the alcohol pass before driving the 100 miles back home. I was shocked to see them have shonen-nai manga. B&N has been very slow to pick up manga with homosexual themes (unlike waldens/borders which has tons) at least in these parts. Nearly got Boy Princess then came to my senses...since i've read how much fanfic with the same plot, dress him up as a girl and try to pass him off...(not that I didn't stock up on the yaoi at Borders anyhow) I did pick up a sampler cd. I'll let you know what I think later.

ETA - my aunt just sent this 'poem' not sure where she got it from

We're here in the buckeye state....
It ain't really that great.....

They grow lots of corn...
And look mighty forlorn...

Because we were born
Next to the corn!

Six dollars a dozen...
Go remarry your cousin!

We're here in the buckeye state
It ain't really great....

Then why are we here.?
Let's all have a beer!!!!!

Frustrating

Mom calls like three times this morning (between painting the living roomo) to encourage me to just go buy the mattress. You deserve it (my parents are very frustrated that my life has turned out to be so much worse than theirs financially) she says. I think on the sign in the store, don't think of it as 1700$, think of it as 33 cents a night. Okay, when you put it that way.

My problem, such as it is, anything less than the best isn't going to do because I foolishly laid down on the best (well actually that's the temperpedic, this would be second best at half the price...) and I do deserve it. My body is torn up. I don't sleep well. The doctors are concerned by this and think a good portion of my problems could be helped if I slept better. Okay...I really could swing the price of the bed. I DO have a lot of money saved and I should spent it before the loan bastards take it all.

The other problem is, I'm in love with the wooden beds. LOVE. But they're out of my price range sort of. I could do it (Points up) but I live in an apartment and these things would overpower even larger rooms in a house. I need to not like big massive things (I could never do Asian minimalism.) I need to go to other stores first today and look at other furniture so i can decide what to do. I'll get 200$ gift certificate if I buy the mattress but do I want the one and only wrought 'iron' bed they have? It's pretty but I've seen prettier. Penny's had prettier but you can't see them in the store and I have no idea if they're just all flash and no substance (which i suspect).

Why in the world do retailers make this SO hard? I mean shit, imagine going in to buy clothes or shoes but not being able to try it on...well we don't have to imagine. We just have to shop online I guess now. Which is why I don't do it often. It might look great in the catalog but unless you can touch it, how do you know what you're getting?

and the REALLY frustrating part? They will NOT work with me on the delivery. Penny's wouldn't even bring it into the house. (bite me) Big Sandy's will do everything including removing the dumb old mattress. However, they don't have their own delivery people, they contract out and can't understand why i can't miss work for this! Um because I can't, damn it, especially on a thursday. That's my once a week class taht I already missed once! If I'm shelling out 2 grand you should at least work with me.

So i called down to the mattress places in Gallipolis which is closer than Chillicothe. They have the same bed for the same price with no 200$ gift perk but free delivery. However when asked do they have any beds the girl on the phone says 'err, some, not much.' in a tone that says, 'are you kidding?' Sweetpea, here's a sales tip, say 'yes we have a small but nice selection.'

So I weight my options and even paying 80$ for delivery Big Sandy's has the edge thanks to the gift card and pretty beds. Then I remember I went past Original Mattress Factory beds on the way from Big Sandy's to the highway so I stop there first.

They have really pretty and relatively inexpensive wrought 'iron' beds and I was wrong about them. They don't just have spring coils, they DO have memory foam. And somehow I feel much more comfortable in this store. She wasn't trying to rush me or shove me into something. I was also reminded of something VERY important, dust mites can't live in foam. I'm ALLERGIC in very big caps according to my allergist to dust mites. So allergies, arthritis, diabetes, sleep apnea, can I really afford to say no to this bed? It's also 300$ cheaper than Big Sandy's. I buy the mattress (has a 15 year guarantee so if my fat butt dents it more than an inch it gets replaced) AND the bed for what that the mattress would have been at Big Sandy's. It's still blindingly expensive but it's mine. I hope it'll help.

So I DO go back to Big Sandy's since mom insists I need an end table and a cofee table. ( I do but I was rather hoping to move then buy them) and since she's willing to help out (i.e. here's your christmas gift) I stopped and looked. HUGE stuff. I mean my god, they're practically dinner tables. They're gorgeous but really meant for a house not an apartment.

And did I mention the day I was sick last week, I melted my kettle to the stove? I must have blanked out from the meds because I came back around when i hear strange 'plinking' noises and then the smoke alarm went off. The water had boiled out and all the red enamel paint melted from the stove welding it to the burner. So I go to the kitchen part of Big Sandy's but they don't do parts. Lowe's accross the street does. (though they tried to sell me one that was already opened and not for my stove, luckily i caught that)

Since I was already hemmoragghing dough I stopped at Hobby Lobby because I want leaf and acorn beads for my green man necklace. (no such luck) They don't even have Halloween stuff out. They're already on to Christmas. It's the first week in Sept. I do NOT want my Christmas tree yet. However they had the silver aluminum ones, yes those old styled ones from the 50's. The so shiny they blind you kind. No I didn't buy it but I did nearly buy the table top PURPLE alunimum one. Have I mentioned I like garish, tacky crap? Well, I do.

now i'm tired, nothing's gotten written (though some porn is suggesting itself) and I just realized I have quizzes to grade (yes I gave a quiz in the first week. I suck like that)
