Happy First Contact Day

Today is the day the Vulcans first contacted Earth. Yeah I know crap like that....

Today is very stormy, well tonight. Today was ridiculously warm (in the 80s) but it might snow this weekend.

Also today was the honor banquet for the faculty. I was oddly saddened or maybe I should say envious of one of them. The research honoree is from my department and he does deserve it (and I'd be happier if he wasn't causing some problems in our dept) but the one that won the student-nominated award was only here a year and is leaving in May. Yeah a tad envious but I know I'm in the sciences which is hard and the students don't always appreciate it. Still, I have to admit it, I really wish someone would recognize what I (and a few others in my dept) do for those students. Sigh. I do have students who keep in contact with me years later so there's that. And the guy who won cried his way through his speech and he gave the money to the students' organization which was very nice. Also he started a student run project of tax prep for all the low income families around here and that is super cool.

My writing isn't going well mostly because I'm so damn tired.
