To read ALL of my comic books before I go back to the comic book store in October/November. Today I took off to have some fun. I've not been to my comic book store since Feb. They still had my pull list (I also like it because it's female- run) But I've not read MOST of my comics since before that. Some it's been almost a year of collecting and not even knowing do I really want these?
I mean the Boom Buffy books have gotten insane with the spin offs all of which keep getting added to my pull list whether or not I want them. And they put in all the variants (I talked about that with them today. I don't mind seeing them and picking if they don't mind having extras because I'm NOT buying them all, especially since Boom often puts out SIX covers an episode.)
And the Boom covers are often UGLY and the art inside too. This was never really my Buffy and the stories were meh. I think instead of updating Buffy I would have preferred a) past slayers. Can you imagine an American Slayer during the Salem witch trials or a London one during the Great Fire? or b) set it today with the newly minted ones, you know some of the 5 year old ones who were activated way back when and now are old enough to be slaying.
And Hellblazer has a new mini series (I think,) Rise and Fall and the cover art is gorgeous (see it on my tweet here.) I devoured it, loved #1.
It was interesting, the conversation the manager was having with me, name dropping all the people she's gotten for the Lexington comicon (Inner Geek is a chain) Anyhow I kick back a Buffy variant with Ted on it. She's like wasn't he Willow's real life husband. She won't do a show unless we include him. I'm like...um no that was John Ritter...Alexis Denisof, Wesley, is her husband. Well no one wanted him and she wouldn't come without him. I honestly find it hard to believe no one would want to see Wesley. Jonathan or Andrew maybe but Wes? No, I'll believe your next statement, 'they were expensive anyhow.'
In the store, all the geeks were wearing their geeky masks. However I passed HIllbilly hot dogs, WAY beyond state limits for people, at least 100 not a single mask. Marshall U. had a football game (I have to cross the campus twice to get to Inner Geek) zero masks to be seen. Sigh.
The mall on the other hand enforced masks, no drama BUT they have no clue what they're doing. Some stores barred the into the mall proper doors and had their outdoor doors open. Some had it the other way around. Macy had all doors open. I spent a lot of time wandering but skipped Home GOods because of how many people were in it. Macy's had some of the ugliest clothes (again, lately their selection has sucked it). Their store was packed. I found a sweater jacket (dress) with silver decorations and an asymmetrical hem by INC. I said no more jackets. It said I'm on sale for 24$. Long story short, it's in my hamper to be washed.
I did go to Michael's. I had bought some Prodigal Art son from Twitter friends and I knew what kind of mixed media display I wanted to do...only couldn't find anything that I wanted to do it with. Sigh. I did however buy a big heavy tombstone for halloween.
Got a cherry mocha at Joe Muggs inside Books a Million (got some manga but it's cheaper to buy it from BaM online where they compete with Amazon). Last two times there the lid popped off and I got coffee all over my car (once I got it all over ELD) This time it popped off and she dropped the entire drink and it had to be remade. She forgot the cherry...
Still, it was a good day out.
