So I planned to go to Huntington to the comic book store, to Macy's to look for boots and to Home Goods/ TJ Maxx for gifts. I had also planned to go to those new pop culture stores in Point Pleasant.

Well over the weekend the ATM to my bank was down and I literally had no money so the only bank (that I don't have to pay fees on) is in Gallipolis so by the time I over slept and went there it was already after noon so I just went to WV.

Turns out Hillbilly Hot Dog isn't open in the middle of the week at least not in winter which honestly makes sense. Ah well. Got my comic books, went to Michael's and got minorly annoyed. the LeMax spooky town village shit flies off the shelf. I expected the Christmas to do the same. They did not so the one I bought mom was there half off. Gah. Oh well.

Macy's had several boots knee high and ankle. The perfect ankle boots for steampunk were half off. WHEE. Biggest size was a 5 (oh so that's WHY you're on sale), the cheap knee highs were so hard inside I'm sure there was zero padding. It was awful. The other ones were nice but the stiff heel cup hits RIGHT under the malleolus on the tendons so nope. Also my calves are thin (especially since one is atrophied from nerve damage) and these barely fit (compared to my older ones which are fine) so no boots. Did pick up the very nice Anne Klein's black slacks which were now half off (and still pricey as they were over 100$)

What I didn't expect was zero seats in the food court on a WEDNESDAY. And then TJ Maxx/Home Good had all kinds of little gifts for the holidays and I wanted to get all the things. Looking at my bill I DID get all the things. I turn around and the line to the check out is wrapped around three times and at least 40 people deep. I hate this but what can you do? Put more things from the impulse buy shit in your buggy and roll. The lady in front of me is like can you believe this? No I figured everyone was home readying for tomorrow. I was wrong.

Books a Million had a few things including a bargain book dad might like. Dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings was slow as crap but good and made no sense. I want the boneless wings (11.50) ala cart. She goes we have a combo with fries that's 2 dollars cheaper... so same wings but more food for less money?? UMMMM

What I Just Finished Reading:

Murder on a Girls' Night Out by Anne George a cozy mystery set in Alabama, i have a new mystery series for my 50 states challenge. This was enjoyable.

Apache Delivery Service by Matt Kindt a Vietnam war centered horror graphic novel, it's good enough but not great, hated the art

Demon in the Wood by Leigh Bardugo a grishaverse prequel graphic novel. I liked this one

Chainsaw Man, Vol. 1 by Tatsuki Fujimoto. I hate to say it, I actually liked this silly thing. Denji is my kind of character IF they don't carry the I wanna touch boob thing on too long

What I am Currently Reading:

Literally Murder by Ali Brandon. This was in the pack of books Alexcat sent me. So far so good with this mystery

The Witcher Omnibus by Paul Tobin some graphic novel version stories. So far, it's enjoyable enough that I'm finally chasing down the books and putting them on my wishlist

Cells at Work!, Vol. 1 by Akane Shimizu. I want to say it was Suzume who said I needed this one. It's fun. So much fun so far I want to get a few pages and use them as a discuss point for students next semester.

What I Plan to Read Next: Spy × Family, Vol. 1 by Tatsuya Endo I've been told to read this one

36298 / 50000 words. 73% done!

Snippet - Al laughed at him and that forced Dan to think about it after all. He wished his emotions didn’t get all jumbled up when it came to her. It was so awkward. What happened if they went out and it didn’t work out? You’d ask to be returned to a New York group. He nodded to his inner voice. That sounded right. Was Al even interested in more than a few nights of fun? Her record said no. In fact, since Howell’s arrival she had been rather in a dry spell. Coincidence? Did she like Howell? Would she even look twice at him or was he more of a brother? Dan wrinkled his nose at that thought.

“Dan?”

Al’s questioning tone dragged his attention to her. Had he missed something? “Huh?”

“You okay?”

“Yeah just thinking,” he said.

“About being pulled apart by maenads?” Summer asked and he snorted.

“No. I think I’ll pass on that one. Let’s get your character finished up, Al.” Dan sat down next to her. Robert scowled slightly.

Yep, Al has his attention. Good. “Or Robert can and I’ll help Grace.”

Robert’s gaze cut to Grace and then back to Al. Grace seemed to notice and pulled her chair closer to Dan. He helped her set up her character stats and Robert did more regaling Al with the joys of game play than he did actually helping her.

They got the game started about fifteen minutes later. Dan hated that this would be mostly a sham game because he was on a literal roll with the dice. He hit two natural twenties in a row, leaving Jesse groaning.

“How are even doing that?”

“I don’t know. Bet I roll a one once we get back to our main campaign.” Dan chuckled. He jumped when someone knocked on the door frame even though he’d been expecting Howell’s interruption.

“Hi, sorry, I think I got a little lost,” Howell said, leaning in the doorframe.

Summer, Kelly and even Al checked him out because why wouldn’t they? With that big grin and perfectly fluffy hair, Howell’s good looks were hard to ignore. How he thought Dan stood a chance when he was around, he didn’t know.
