I survived
Aug. 18th, 2023 11:25 pmI'm too tired however to do the friday fandom nonsense. You can have that tomorrow maybe. Still have those novel edits to get through.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Here are the pluses
1. Pay raise. Woo hoo. I'm making 67k (my parents - we thought you made 70K. I have no idea why you would)
2. the school is doing pretty well
3. we got a last minute organic chem prof (because her school shuttered last week and screwed those students and the faculty because seriously if you knew you didn't have enough $$$ to make it one more semester shouldn't you have let them all time to find other places to go)
4. the new dorm is underway
5. my building finally got the new furniture I was begging for.
6. no bench warrant for my arrest. They said just fill out your question sheet and mail it back, whatever.
Bad things
1. no sleep
2. no books came in for students
3. AI nightmares on the horizon (though also ways we can use AI)
4. Two of our buildings were broken into, all the senior research posters sliced to hell in my building and the education buildings new paint job was covered in graffitied dicks (as was the doors)
5. we have no security systems/cameras and I work late sometimes so now I'm not too comfortable.
6. The construction took up two parking lots not one. No one knows where we're going to park and instead of letting us park along the building they're instituting fines (though I know why) we need more parking. We have 3 handicapped spots for 2 buildings. If they think I'll take a devil may care attitude should I fall if I have to park across campus and walk because there's no handicapped spots they are mistaken
