Feb. 7th, 2024 11:17 pmThe psychiatrist asked me 'are you okay' with being the sounding board for my dad as my uncle dies. I said yes. This week, that is less of a yes as the reality starts sinking in.
But things can always get worse and they did. One of my coworkers lost her son tonight. I am heartbroken for her. He's probably relatively close to my age. I've met her daughters and grandkids but not her son. I do not know what happened but I'll be stepping in tomorrow to give her exam for her. I can't even imagine what she's going through.
The 2020s just keep finding ways to be fucking awful.
What I Just Finished Reading:
K-Pop Confidential - This book, if it has ANY basis in reality has turned me off the whole idea of K-pop bands entirely
Crouching Buzzard Leaping Loon - This one was fun
Cold Iron - Filled with Manx folklore. I liked it.
What I am Currently Reading:
We Ride Upon Sticks
The Benevolent Society of Ill Mannered Women
Both of these I should love, an 80s era book about teen witches and a historical mysteries? So far I don't like either (but they fit my pop sugar challenge so I'm hanging in yet)
What I Plan to Read Next:
Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie, The reformatory and X
