Summary -- Castiel can’t figure out why his traps aren’t working.

“Are you entirely sure this is a way to capture a faerie?” Sam leaned against a tree near the cabin in the woods he was sharing with his brother and Castiel.
The angel nodded. “This is the kindest way at any rate. We don’t want to hurt them.”
Sam scraped his hair back away from his face. “Are we sure we need to capture one might have been a better question.”
Castiel smiled softly. “Fairly sure. If you and Dean are right about a rogue elf tormenting these woods, we’ll need some help. It would be of great assistance if we had an insider’s knowledge of how to stop him. We’re used to demons, to stopping them with whatever forced needed. This is something different.”
“But is it a rogue? People called the fey the Kindly Ones for a reason,” Sam argued, knowing that moniker was to appease the cruel and capricious faerie.
He shrugged. “Some are very helpful and benevolent. Others are vicious.” Castiel scowled. “Much like humans I suppose.”
Sam snorted. It was hard to argue that. “Okay, so we need to catch one and ask him or her some hard questions.”
“My question is why haven’t our traps worked? It’s been three days, and I was sure we would have been further ahead by now,” Castiel said.
Sam rolled his eyes and beckoned for Castiel to follow him along the wooded path. “Really, Cas? You don’t know why.”
“If I knew why, I’d have fixed the problem,” Cas replied.
“Our bait is cake and ale.” Sam swept his flashlight to the right, illuminating their trap.
Dean sat there contentedly munching one the Little Debbie cakes they had put out, washing it down with the brown ale. Sam thought the combo had to be gross, but his brother obviously didn’t mind.
“All we’re catching is Dean,” Sam said then chuckled softly. Only his brother could make an angel face palm.
