I tried to do a little of wipbigbang #1, a very old Buffy/Angel crossover started way back in 2003. I reread it recently (after pulling it down from FFN because it was lost off my computer). Didn't notice anything. Today scrolling around I realize that in the opening chapters Fred is going to Texas for the Holidays (i.e. I did NOT want a big cast to deal with) and then in later chapters Fred is there planning Christmas in the Hyperion.

And this is in what's 'in print.' … I had betas! OMG. So what to do? Keep with the original and send Fred off. Keep with the later chapters and have her there?

I'm leaning to the first because honestly I DON'T want a cast of thousands and since this is a BtVS/AtS crossover there could be that. Mostly I wanted it Buffy, Faith, Angel, Wes Dawn and Connor (and Xander, Gunn and Lindsey in the background more or less). Thoughts? might need a beta for this beast too and a cheerleader.

The more I think about Hartley Sawyer the more disturbed I become. I'm not super keen on being judged for past mistakes IF we're trying to do better. We all do dumb shit. On the other hand not all of us are disturbing AF. It's predictable my gay friends are furious over his homophobic remarks, my PoC friends are upset over the racist crap but imo not nearly enough of us are going yeah racist/homophobic comments are bad BUT what about the comment about attacking and mutilating women? I mean if this was one my true crime shows that would be exhibit one.

Re: stories with betas ... I still laugh about the time you read No Small Injury and commented about Riza holding the Idiot Ball when she could have done a simple thing that still allowed everything else to happen as written. xD

I don't know the two series to really comment on whether to keep Fred around, but if you don't want to juggle an even larger cast in a crossover story then I vote to send her away this time.

Your vote makes sense, seriously. She would add very little as some 20K of this story is at this point.

With your fic, I think you can do either and still have Fred be largely absent in the fic. I mean it's not as if the show didn't do that itself. You'd have like one scene with a character but it'd be focused on everybody else. Just how in depth is she planning for Christmas? But again it does sound like you have a lot of people already to keep track of so maybe shipping her off to Texas might be the best.

I saw Radcliff's article and I thought it was pretty classy of him to respond and to ask people to respect the fact that this is not a fight between him and Rowling but more about the matter at hand.

I think we've spoken about this before about how I am against cancel culture, especially since it always feels like there's someone out there that's going through celebrities' social media accounts to find bad/offensive things. I truly think that we should always look at a couple of factors before making a snap decision, including how old is the offensive tweet(s)/post(s), what was the context, and what are the person's current actions. I do feel with the particular case, it's something pretty dire. But I know for a fact that I've done and said some stupid and offensive things. I just didn't think to post it to social media.

Honestly Fred wouldn't be there much. Part of me thinks is she even close to her parents? We never see her make an attempt? Having her around might get Gunn out of the picture too...but they weren't really together in S5 much but since this is AU for S5....hmmm

I do agree with you. I've changed over the years. I've grown. People can change. But yes that said, statements about mutilating women are disturbing

If you're trying to cut down on your cast of characters, chopping her out of the later chapter sounds better.
