It's been an oddly emotional day

I had to learn the hard way (i.e via a student) thank VidGrid, the lesson capture software doesn't work for Mac/Safari but it will with Mac's chrome which doesn't play well with Mac. I had this up all last semester and NO ONE told me. I was a bit furious and upset. I have students who might not be getting lectures but no one told me. INCLUDING IT! Who should have known


And then a student gave me a valentine (a little late thanks to the weather) telling me a) how much she loves my stories when I talk in class, how everything affects me and my friends which fascinates her and b) how inspiring it is to her that I'm not afraid to be myself, no matter what. Sniffle. How amazing is that? Also padawan, it took me YEARS to not give a fuck what others think.



Then I found out that I've been nominated by the students for teacher of the year again. Read it wrong, thought I won but not yet. Me and a friend of mine (who probably thinks my reading skills suck since I read it wrong) are both nominated. How cool is that? Even if I don't get it, I'm sticking that on ye ol' resume.

I am making a difference. Some days I need to know that.

OMG I can't believe that no-one told you something that important! That really sucks.

Clearly your students think the world of you though, really that kind of thing does make up for so much doesn't it. It's so nice to know that you and your skills are appreciated. :)
