To my friends who are celebrating, happy thanksgiving. I'm most grateful to all of you who reached out to me this year after my accident, whether it be to drop me a line to see how I was doing or to send me something to raise my spirits, I am glad you're in my life.

But, did you know, Abraham Lincoln was the reason Thanksgiving Day was instituted as an actual holiday? In his October 1863 proclamation, he said: "I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, …to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving..." (then FDR moved it to the fourth Thursday in November *lol*)

Yeah, my mom was just telling me about this- I don't think I ever really knew before yesterday.

It's honestly something I don't know much about. I have never actually liked the holiday

I feel like Thanksgiving is pretty much just about eating (which I like, so it's decent in my opinion). (and finally for the last few years we haven't been required to gather at my grandmother's house (she is still alive, but she passed it on to one of my older married cousins))

I think my grandmother made it a chore to me. She cooked an insanely big meal but for the last 20 years of her life (she lived to be 100) she expected mom and me to do the same and you did not tell her no because you would suffer
