Mothman Country
Jun. 10th, 2022 11:23 pmI did decide to go to Huntington. I did stop in Point Pleasant for a gag (someone asked me to ask Mothman a question so...) and here's the weird thing. It's hard sometimes being a scientist and yet a skeptical believer in the supernatural (no not Mothman). Ever "feel" a place, just being there makes you relaxed or wires you up like a fear machine? I get those feelings often. Point Pleasant has always felt bad (well it is in theory cursed) but today it felt calm, peaceful. When I drove out of town I saw two buildings that had always been creepy like something was watching you from them (I even put them in my Buffyverse story Stepchild of Belief) and those buildings had been torn down and something built in its place (as I've not been on that street since 2019) and I'm thinking I wonder....
I tried to go to Hillbilly hotdog but the line was SO long. At 2 pm. On a FRIDAY. OMG why? So no lunch for me.
At the comic book store I dumped all of Boom!'s Buffyverse nonsense but did get House of Slaughter and SOmething is Killing the CHildren on my pull list along with Marvel Voices (I don't know how often that will come out but it's all stories of/by marginalized groups), plus picked up a few titles from the free comic book teasers. I haven't put them on the list yet but we'll see. Also I didn't get it because I don't actually like Poison Ivy much BUT the DC Pride covers for her are amazing. I should have gotten it but at 4$ a comic these days...
I took back the broken frame to Michaels and got four more frames. That's a lot of art to finally hang up. I found some rose halva at HomeGoods and had to have it. Sadly they did not have the garden stuff on sale yet. Macy's clothing was blah as fuck
Chili's watermelon vodka spritzer was a good buy at 5$ and I do like their chipolte chicken and waffles.
Books a million did not have a book mom thought I could get for dad. They did have a spooky Victorian manga I picked up and finally since it was everywhere for Pride I bought Simon SNow #1 by Rainbow Rowell. I figure if book at over 270K in ratings and is still 4 star it's worth it (and oddly that fat novel cost less than the fucking manga). And I got a 5$ gift card if I do a survey so I'll do that and buy that book for father's dad online.
So it was a good day. I did find a concert in Point PLeasant tomorrow that raises money for cancer but it's going to rain so...no. Also I got invited to Athens to a Drag Race for Pride but as much as I want to go I don't feel up to another day out when I have SO MUCH to do. I'm staring too many writing deadlines in the face. I really wish I had someone to talk out the trailer park story. Hopefully I'll finish the damn
unconventionalromance by tomorrow.

Date: 2022-06-12 03:57 pm (UTC)The halva is very yummy. However you can tell why it was at HomeGoods/TJ Maxx, i.e. older in terms of shelf life. The roses no longer have scent/taste but other than that it's good
