A productive day

I got the living room mostly cleaned up (so it's not a trip hazard at least). I got SPooky Lane village built. I transcribed some stuff and I got most of a Halloween bingo story written. It's a bit silly.

My amazon order made it. I'm happy to have a coffee grinder again. I was teasing mom that she blew out another grinder and I still have mine from 1993...and then it died. That'll learn me. Did you know you can get bursting boba from Amazon. Now you do (because making this crap looks hard)

I have more news on me vs Trader Joe pasta. Last night I used a second type of white pasta with my pasta alla'puttanesca (had to use up the tomato confit and sad face, my calabria chiles have gone off) not only did I NOT get the giant sugar bump I do with TJs I went low and nearly blacked out in the shower. fun times. So I guess Trader Joe's pasta dry, fridge OR frozen is now off the menu. Oh well. Pasta is easy to find.


In the too little too late department, Nanowrimo is falling over itself apologizing for the last 2 years worth of mistakes. If nothing else this is a good example of the power of words. I still think it was one person's (whoever was running their social media) hottake on AI but the damage it did really can't be walked back. It's sad. (I will still be over here doing one last attempt by myself to get my 20th year in. Hell I haven't touched the forums in years anyhow. Not like I'm going to miss it)

Here's my hot take on Hazbin's fandom, holy crap I'm glad I just post my stories and otherwise don't really engage much other than to tell artists/other writers when I like their stuff. We now have people trying to ruin artist's twitter (and other socials) feeds if they ship people they don't like. Probably the weirdest one was the thread tonight where I learned how fandom infantilizes ACE characters (not just in Hazbin). this one actually claimed shipping Alastor (who was 30 when he died and has been dead nearly 100 years) is pedophilia and only a pedophile would do this. Needless to say the ACE fans are justifiably losing their minds about this. How we don't know pedophilia is not two adult characters having sex with each other I don't know and how we're conflating asexuality with being a child is even weirder.


But on to happier things, let's have some community recs. Okay yes it's too late to join spook_me this year but hey I finished the first of my two stories.

I don't know if its me but I read the NaNo email and it was okay but I really, really wanted a name or name on the bottom of the letter. I wanted a person or persons to step up and say '*I* messed up and we're sorry' and have a name to go with it... a 'from the team' letter isn't someone taking responsibility to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

oh I agree. I think there were several someone's who got fired over the whole variety of things but there are leaders of this thing and they SHOULD have put their names on this. I'll be curious if they get any professionals to do the mentorship/cheerleading spots this year

I'm debating if I want to start a new project for NaNo this year. I never cared about the official organization, never logged into the forums, but I liked making words and cheering on other people to make words.

For the fandom content: I'm convinced the motive behind posting this is either "I don't like this ship so I'm going to make up outrageous takes about it so Other People Are Wrong" or the OP is saying controversial things to drive engagement. This is why I had to leave Tumblr, because I started interalizing a lot of these hot takes, and second-guessing everything I was writing.

I like setting aside a month to write a huge chunk of something original (which is what I do for nano), still probably will this november. Tried to get interested in all the DW spinoffs for those upset with nano but...didn't.

I remember when tumblr first started and it was so infamous for this. In this case I think it's more of a 'I don't like this ship' thing but then there's the whole contingent who thinks Hazin/Helluva are horrible to the point of losing their minds that Hot Topics is carrying this stuff (meanwhile I'm over here going wait, HT still exists?!?)
