Three cards
May. 14th, 2007 11:07 amThe
open_on_sunday prompt was 'card.'
Connor & Angel post series – How did I get this way?
“Dad, how much of a hand did you have in revamping my mind, no pun intended?” Connor asked, scrolling down the screen, not looking at his father.
“A little, I guess,” came the sheepish answer. “Why?”
“Just curious. I’m betting the interest in ballet and art came from you,” Connor replied. “Hockey? Not you.”
“Actually it is,” Angel replied.
“Oh. Huh. The interest in older women?”
“All you! I tried to change that.”
Connor snorted, pointing to the screen. “So was it your idea to make me a geek who can’t resist haunting Ebay for the latest anime card set?”
“Vail!”
Spike – late 1800’s, Competition of the heart
As always, there was a competition to outdo the other. Spike had to work within his limitations. Daguerreotype-type cards were very popular but those needed floods of sunlight to take. Mirror cards were equally popular and equally useless to him and a bought card was out of the question. Cobweb, it was, a thick red tassel holding the flap down over his poetic verse. He even tied gold lover’s knots all around the edges. Dru would love it.
That was until she saw Darla’s card, all fine lace and bleeding hearts drawn on it. No fair. Angelus was an artist!
*note, in the Victorian ages, Valentines day cards were practically a fine art and the cards mentioned above were some of the most popular in both England and America.
Lindsey & Lilah – S1 Estate Sale
“Why are we doing this? These things aren’t magical,” Lindsey picked through a box of the dead man’s belongings, trying not to touch things.
“No, but they have value, especially if we can sell them as cursed,” Lilah replied. “We already took anything occult from him but Holland said we can take fifteen percent off the estate sale. I want to find that deck.”
Lindsey pulled out a square piece of velvet. Inside were thin, hand-painted playing cards. The backs all differed, bright tattoos, which made him shudder. “Human skin.”
“Modern-day Ed Gein. Bonus.” Lilah grabbed the deck gleefully.
“Yuck.”

LMAO!
But Estate Sale was my favor. I can so easily picture them getting the rummaging-through-a-dead-person's-things detail, like jaded vultures.
