Aug. 23rd, 2007 09:58 pmBefore I get into that, let me talk about the knee. I call the Holzer Orthopedic clinic (like I have a choice). These are the same people who REFUSED to make me an appt in May when I had tendonitis in my elbow because they were convinced my lumber spine was responsible. Well once again the receptionist decides to play doctor. She asks have I had surgery before. I answered without thinking since I figure she's writing down stuff for the first time patient paperwork. Yes, I had it done in 86. To which she responds, 'we can't give you an appointment. We don't do follow ups for other surgeon's works. I'll let you talk to the nurse to help you until you can see your surgeon.'
For a second I can't say anything then blurted out, "don't you dare! Did you even listen to me? My surgery was TWENTY-ONE years ago! This is not a post-op complication and my surgeon is long retired and dead! Would you PLEASE just give me an appointment.' She then takes a tone with me. 'well what did you do to it?' I'm thinking, excuse me, you're a fucking receptionist. Do your job. It is NONE of your business what I did to it. I SHOULD have told her I got caught up in my Catherine's Wheel S&M toy but i said, "i'll talk to the doctor about that.' She did finally give me the appt and YES I WILL be telling the surgeon all about this after he's done with me since this is the second time their secretarial staff has nearly turned away business.
As for the drive home, it was good. My knee is back to its normal pain level (it's never really pain free). I think I aggravated a nerve but wow this feels so much better. I came here with a cat box handmade by my uncle. Roy was in it in 30 seconds flat then decided that sleeping Snoopy-style on top was even better. Of course when I opened up the place, he wanted food. I can't blame him. it's 103! (@40 C for my non-American friends) I go inside and leave him to eat and hear barking. Zoe the puppy and Queenie the terrier-thing are out there. I grab up the food and while I'm doing that all three beasts go inside. Great. Have you ever tried to get three animals out of your house by yourself? Every time I toss one, the others would run back in. Finally Zoe's owner comes for her, she's running free in my place. I grab her and she pees from all the excitement. Sigh. Now there's two. I get queenie out and I leave Roy eat in the foyer since he's panting. He sacked out for about a half hour.
