bad electronics day and pic spam
Sep. 5th, 2007 11:01 pmBad electronics...BAD
1. couldn't turn off the alarm clock (that was more bad brain)
2. the computer guy fixed the settings on my computer because all the computers were set to NOT accept our new student software and I tell him the other problems it was having. He found errors and fixed them...and it didn't work. But he was most distressed that my FMA wallpaper at work did NOT have Armstrong
3. the projector in the classroom wasn't working. Well I TOLD them last week the control board was messed up and I was told it was fine (it's not it's now dead). No one told the profs that you have to turn the projector on (until it's fixed) by hand. This is on the ceiling. So now we're smacking something that's tens of thousands of dollars with a STICK trying to hit a button the size of the on/off button on a dvd player
4. I go to walmart and get to the cash register and hear them whinging about the computers being a pain and gee there's no cash in the drawer. She starts checking me out and I saw, um are the credit card things DEAD? yes. Don't you think that's pertinent info to tell me BEFORE you start ringing me out. Not everyone has cash/checks (I usually don't but I did because I just paid rent). Not one announcement about it. I know they don't want to run off customers but won't they be MORE pissed if they stand in a huge assed line and not be able to pay
5. someone pulling a float for an elementary school (why at 5 pm on a Wednesday who knows) runs the stop sign, nearly hits me then proceeds to head for the highway at 10 mph. DIE.
it was 104 today. that's just wrong.
and as promised, picspam. Here is Dublin Cemetary (that's Dublin OH). There were two crypts that really lured me in. They face the road and give off creepy vibes
crypt one
which is attached to crypt two and they share a huge mound of earth behind them (with icky plastic vents...)
the lintel
i'm shocked at the perfect condition of this stone and it's Victorian grave art. Usually this sort of stone falls prey to acid rain. I'm wondering if it's a replacement weeping willow
and just in case you didn't believe me gravestones that the road crosses over. No kidding. The writing faces the road so you know where those graves are...under the gravel. Weird
eta - writing stuff...blah tonight. didn't do much but broke the quarter mark in 5 days

Date: 2007-09-06 10:16 am (UTC)I'm sorry it's so hot. In the last pic Bear and I were commenting on how pretty it looked that day, blue sky et al. We've had nothing but grey skies and rain, but it has kept our temps down.

Date: 2007-09-06 08:22 pm (UTC)As to the Victorian stone, did you see that it has repair lines in it? They go horizontally through the stone. Maybe it was knocked over and kept in storage for a while.
I will send you an email shortly of the Egyptian Mausoleum here in York! :-) It's creepy!

Date: 2007-09-06 09:52 pm (UTC)No, didn't notice the repair lines. You can ask JK about our time in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Totally cool

Date: 2007-09-07 04:09 am (UTC)I need to scan in all the pics I took of a cemetery up in Santa Fe - VERY cool place, tombstones displaced by giant trees that had obviously been planted as saplings long ago...

Date: 2007-09-07 04:12 am (UTC)I'd love to see the Santa Fe one. I would like to go back to Greenlawn in Columbus. So nice that there are tour guide maps to it
