so yesterday I called original mattress factory to tell them that I don't know where the end plates are for my bed rails so please give me a set of rails for 50$ more. Today, OMF calls and says do you want TWO sets of rails??? No, just one, my salesperson said they don't come with the bed (for me spending that kind of dough on bed and mattress they should be free) He's like yes they do. Well go tell the salesclerk who worked with ME!

Otherwise it's been a great day mail wise. I got a belated B-day gift from [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn. Some beads, including Asian styled black cinnabar beads from the same company that I have the SAME beads from in red so now I can look all coordinated and stuff (and no, she didn't know I had those I don't think). She also got me a Monkey King Voo Doo baby. He's so cute.
here he is complete with diadem and nyoi-bo. (apropos of nothing i have earrings that look just like this without the needles)

I also got ebay stuff from Japan and China, both Minekura art books. If you want to read about the artbooks and the latest boatlod of manga I've read head here

and for some art samples (forgive the crookedness, it's a hard cover book that I'm trying hard NOT to bust the spine of getting it onto the scanner)

crooked Gojyo
even more crooked Goku

Goku and his favorite thing

this is just pretty

and random anger...i was raised Catholic. I faded from the church and the religion a good while back and there are times I'm reminded why. Leading European priests are having a meltdown because Pavrotti's hometown allowed him a church funeral because a) he's divorced b) he has an illegitimate child. The callousness of this is just stunning. The little girl is only four and she'll grow up knowing the Catholic church wanted to shove her father in the ground without ceremony because of her. How does that make a person feel? And then the church wonders why people are leaving it in droves? Maybe because they're looking for humanity in their religious leaders.

The Catholic church drives me nuts. I mean, there are some genuinely good people within it - all the priests I've known have been really lovely people, & three in particular are fantastic - but there's so much rubbish within the upper echelons and with some of the dogma that it becomes impossible to sympathise with the church in regards to any of their professed problems.

i know same here. I still go with my parents (It's just easier that way) on the high holidays and in 40 years we only ever had one nasty priest. The rest have been great but still...how can you think that way in the 21st century?

The Catholic Church seems to me to approach spirituality the way a major corporation would.

This coming from a total outsider to religion, of course.

aren't they though. I have both backgammon books now (apparently everyone who used to do bidding wars on Ebay have theirs so I got them cheap) and this Kazuya Minekura illustrations (where all these scans came from) is new I think. Dead gorgeous stuff. Makes me wish I had the patience for iconning

i know. stupid stuff that.

Try explaining that you just need the mattress, not the box spring. You get this little look of huh. It's quite entertaining.

I think I need to start setting aside money to buy artbooks. They're so pretty. *ogles the book*

I couldn't stand the whole religious thing. It's so black and white, not to mention hypocritical. So a serial murder can kill all those people but finds God in prison, so his soul is saved? Just doesn't seem right to me.

yeah i've tred that before so I know what you mean.

I got the minekura illustrations book for 30$ today (15 for the book, 15 for postage) seeing as you can't get art books in B&N for that price I was thrilled.

yeah, that kind of black and white thinking infuriates me

Hope all is better tonight. Hooray for late birthday presents!

That's been my problem with the Catholic church... a serious lack of compassion. Which is rather stunning in a group that claims to believe what Jesus preached...

Ugh, those are two of my biggest pet peeves against the church. I am a devout Catholic myself, but some of their ideas are so archaic it drives me insane!

But the Saiyuki stuff is so cute. IT's only appropriate that Gojyo is crooked. XD

yeah it's like wow, then again I suspect a lot of American Catholic priests would be appalled themselves (given how vocally many of them opposed the new pope during selection time)

I know. poor crooked gojyo (I just couldn't get the book on the scanner without hurting it)

OH yeah, the succession of the new pope was fun *head/desk* I definitely miss Pope John Paul 2nd.

They do make personal scanners waaaay too small don't they?

*sighs* Yeah, I was raised Catholic also but bugged out at the point where I was supposed to get Confirmed. I really think that having priests be celibate contributes to a whole host of the church's problems. When you get in the upper echelons of men totally cut off from the world, totally cut off from the realities of women and children, they just can't see things through the eyes of a child anymore. They can't see beyond the dogma they create.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
I made it past the confirmation (though I made two teachers quit with my questions)

BUt yeah, I really think that part of their dogma is the problem. They wonder why they cna't find men other than a certain type of predator, well what normal man straight or gay is going to want to be celibate? And to think a man, never in a marriage relationship (for the most part), doesn't have kids, is expected to give advice about things he's never experienced.
