First off - my bed is soft and squishy and you know it's going to take some getting used to because it's not a flat surface. It rolls a bit. It's like sleeping on a water bed filled with jell-O. it was comfy though.

Saw my orthopedic surgeon. My knee of course choses this time to feel good. I glare at it. I jiggling it around because it DOESNT feel good any other time. The nurse at the clinic asks...the ER didn't take x-rays? What's wrong with them? Well it's just as well since they would never have taken the ones this doc wanted which are all closed kinetic chains. Podiatrists had that in common. We really don't want to see you non-weight bearing (unless of course it's some horrible fracture) since we can tell so much more from seeing the joint being used.

The doc comes in and seems pretty nice. After I tell him where it hurts and what movements make it worse, He pokes my knee right on the scar from 21 years ago and asked what was done. I explain it was ligament repair and a capsulotomy. He grabs my knee cap and yanks and it goes all the way off the normal place until it's sitting on the inside of my leg. "That's not right. You have a subluxing knee cap.' When I get my breath back I mention that's been seen on MRI but I forgot to write in on the patient history (because I'm stupid)

He makes me bend the knee and listens to it. 'That sounds HORRIBLE!' When an orthopedic surgeon says that you know you're boned. He slaps up the x-rays and points, 'see that?' can't really miss it. On the lateral view, there's spurs off the patella and the are lucencies all over. On the sunrise view there's no joint space left. the tiba and femur are in good shape but my patella is riddled with arthritis and basically it's just what I thought it was, tendonitis brought on by aggravating the arthritis from limping on that side after breaking toes on the other side.

What do you want to do? Steriod injection. Well I can't take NSAIDS doc so sure, slap some steroids in there. He lines up the needle and says 'wow, that surgeon did more than you think in here. There's nothing left of your lateral ligaments. I don't even have to push the needle hard. (i.e. the moron doc I had in the 80's messed up more than I knew and I knew he had messed up). I'm also getting another brace and some PT.

and now to quote the Simpsons 'this is what you've been waiting for. Hard core Nudity.' okay, it's the new bedroom suite.

Spock Bear is toooo cool. Yes, he needs to keep Roy company. *nods*

you probably will. It was sit with Roy or sit with hodags

HEEE. Spock Bear would find Hodags highly illogical. good choice.

When an orthopedic surgeon says that you know you're boned.

*dies* That's the bad pun to end all bad puns. *groan*

You know, it's really scary how similar our collections of manga are. One would almost think we had similar tastes in reading material or something. :p

Cool. I don't know Eden or Aegis. I read Deathnote at the library since i was only so-so with it
ext_3172: (Default)
From: [identity profile] chaos-by-design.livejournal.com
I know, that's why I snapped the picture.

Eden is good, if you like depressing post-apocalyptic sci-fi, which I do. It's a bit confusing at times though, because there's a lot of characters and fighting and it's one of those mangas you have to reread to catch everything, I think.

Aegis has somewhat disappointed me so far, but I haven't given up on it yet since I haven't read much of it. But it's about these two boys who get drafted into the army at a very young age (I picked it up for the futuristic stuff and because it looked like it had serious ho-yay potential).

Damn, your library has Deathnote? Mine isn't very good on the manga end, and they tend to give all volumes of a manga the same call number and have them spread out all amongst different branches, which means it's a pain in the ass to reserve any of it for pickup since you can't specify a particular volume. Feh.

I've thought about doing manga exchanges with people since it's so expensive, like if I found someone with a manga series that I didn't have and wanted to check out, and I had something they wanted as well, I thought it would be neat to swap.
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
There is some manga I'd give up others not so much when it comes to swapping.

My library asks me what to do sometimes.

i'm not so much into post apopcalyptic stuff

Is it bad that I laughed at your pain? I just found the way you related it to be funny.

Love the bed! Oh so pretty bed. Being that's dogwood in there, you're not going to have to oil the thing to keep it from cracking are you? It's the only thing that I've always hated about having wooden objects. Spcok Bear wins big. Still, I think I'd want Bones for some reason...with a pull string and some phrases; He's dead, Jim. and a couple of other ones I can't remember right now...

thanks. I'm glad you liked it. Actually the dogwood is embossed metal so no worries. I love wood though. I'm willing to do the work

backin undergrad I had a bumpersticker on my desk. 'he's dead Jim, you grab his tricorder, i'll get his wallet '

Quickie note. Nearing bedtime. Half delirious. No time to look at pix. Will come back later to view 'em.

I'm so sorry about your knee! I hope that the brace will help. The knee sounds totally F'ed. :-( If you ever see the 80's surgeon again, trip him and sit on him. Bounce up and down a couple of times for good measure.

Has Spock-bear noticed he's pants-less yet? He'll be so embarrassed.

If you've managed to decipher the pidgin English on Monkey King's tag, is he Strength, or is he Creativity? Either one (or both) is good, but the description is a tad confusing.

Ironically, I just got rid of my massive wooden four-poster bed and went to a simple frame bed with pillows piled against the wall instead of a headboard--the very thing you've graduated from. The squeaking and gibbering noises the four-poster made every time I moved finally drove me nuts. You need the lamp I got when I changed beds, though. It's a simple lamp with a rice-paper shade, looks very much like a rectangular paper lantern. It would look great with your Asian grouping, and it cost all of $9.99 at Big Lots. That poncy little glass-shaded reading lamp just wasn't doing it for me, design-wise, besides the fact that I was going to break that shade sooner or later. I cannot be trusted with glass things.

I think my next purchase will be a foam mattress pad, probably the egg-crate kind. I have no padding of my own, and I keep waking up with numb arms and/or legs where I've mashed the nerves at the hip/shoulder. At this rate I'll have to sleep in a crate filled with packing peanuts.

Date: 2007-09-12 04:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
yes Spock Bear is embarrassed

He's...confused. He'sin the Strength line but he does seem to want to be creativity. Poor confused SoN goku

I'll have to go look at Big Lots.

even at wally world you can find actual memory foam toppers but they ARE expensive

I love Spock Bear.

And that bed is very tie-up-able. Me likes. (Roy, Maes, and Ed though, do not like so much).

Trio: What?!
Me: Not all together, you pervs.
Ed: Why are you dragging me into this?!
Winry: She's not, I am.

Spock Bear is a total hit

Yes the bed is. I like your selection of tie=u-able men. I'd add the Saiyuki men, Train Heartnet, maybe that dip Tamaki and a few others

Date: 2007-09-12 03:03 pm (UTC)

maybe that dip Tamaki

I'd go for the twins myself. And you just know Maes and Roy are both getting tied up because Gracia and Riza privately decided it would be a good idea. Poor boys, they have no clue.

Date: 2007-09-12 04:21 pm (UTC)

definitely wouldn't turn down the twins. We all know they can get wicked and Roy and Maes can't avoid the tie down

LOVE the new bed frame. Nice. Purrrrrfect for tying up properly screened individuals... Oh, and it does take a while to get used to sleeping on foam, but your body is going to thank you for giving it nights of virtual weightlessness :)
