random crap i forgot

I woke up pissed off. I was dreaming I was dating Sanzo (yeah right, because I wouldn't kill that bastard in ten seconds) I don't remember what he did but he had me mad as hell.

I do NOT know how so many of my friends can not cook and eat packaged foods. Yesterday I had one of the South Beach diet chicken salad things because they are lo-carb and high protein, good for diabetics, tonight I had the Chili's new 'fajita' in a box dinner. (I do occasionally keep this crap on hand if I know I'll be especially busy). Now I AM a box packing insert reader, diabetics have to be. However, I rarely look at sodium since a) no blood pressure problems, b) i have a love of salt. OMG. BOTH were insanely salty. 800mg for SB and 1010 for chilis! It's death in a box. (and those same friends wonder why their health isn't so hot. Points to box)

I have to have my tooth drilled tomorrow to remove a 30 year old filling. Raise your hand if you're expecting disaster. Yeah me too.

I know - I hate to eat processed food for that very reason (that, and it seldom has any real flavor or nutrients).

yeah I think frozen food in particular sucks so when I find one that doesn't I'm astonished (all things considered Stouffer's is decent)

I usually skim labels for two ingredients that we're avoiding - high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils - and I've started to check for salt because of Barb's HBP, but since I like things salty, I never really look. "Healthy Choice" and "Lean Cuisine" packaged meals always seem very bland to me and so I salt them - I ought to see what the mg of sodium is in them... *g*

I'm always in favor of home cooking. It doesn't take that much longer to chop up stuff yourself, and it always tastes ten times better. (And it's often cheaper in the long run.)

I'm with you. Rachael Ray is like a personal hero (though it usually takes me longer than 30 minutes. I can't find my spices and I'm afraid to flail away with a knife as fast as she does). 95% of the time I cook
