no, seriously. if I hadn't gotten up at 530A to go pee, I wouldn't have made it to work. As I was snuggling back into bed, i heard the ceiling fan hiccup and the wind stop then something began to flash. the damn power went out (for no known reason might I add). And of course the battery back up for the clock is a 9 volt. who the hell has 9 volts?

And before that, going to bed the first time I was wondering why my skin was sparkling and I realized I was covered in glitter. WTH? THen I remembered my new Oil of Olay youth restoring ribbon body wash with 'luminous brighteners' (okay I don't actually need youth restoring, it was on sale at Wallyworld and I had a buy one get one free coupon). my brighteners are GLITTER (I'm all sparkly as I typed this) hmm after spending all that money over the years for body glitter for clubs all I need to do now is wash up with soap meant to 'take years off'

tonight while playing with Roy and talking to mom on the phone, I tried to go into the house, Roy cried and grabbed me. Fine, I'll sit with you, you lonely cat. How did he repay me? He got bored and did the thing all my male cats (but never my females) have done. The grab your hand and bit the shit out of it, 'thanks bitch, i'm done with you here's a bleeding wound to remember me by, go away now.' Roy, See if I give you whole milk again tomorrow.

AWWW, love the Goku icon.

Roy's bad. That little dilute tortie didn't even offer to be bad and I was a stranger picking her up!

thanks. Boys are bad. I don't care what my brother says about girl cats being more aloof, it's better than bitey

I don't remember Sable ever biting. I think we got him neutered too young for even that.

Hobbes was a brat. Mee-chan was feral and weird.

Lupin also tends to give me a chomp when he's had enough petting. And then I yell at him for biting the hand that feeds him, literally. And I pointedly ignore him for a while. And then a few hours later he looks cute and I start petting him again.

I thought cats weren't supposed to be given milk?

My dearly departed cat did this -- a she, btw. Some cats are just more insistent about "I'm done, now!" than others. The somewhat less socialized ones more in tune to solitary life or interacting with other cats. The trick I had to learn over nineteen years was to stop before the cat was done AND to learn to sense when the mood shifted so I could snatch my hand out of the way fast. I was petting a cranky-pants girl cat belonging to a friend of mine once (after the death of my dear cranky-pants girl) and she pulled that grumpy-I'm-done-now thing, and I yanked my hand out of the way. Boy, was she surprised. Especially because I then got all gooey about how much like my baby she was; not at all the reaction she was expecting.

On the other hand my two girl cats now are the very antithesis of aloof and never, ever, ever get tired of being petted. Ever.

i've never found girl cats to be aloof myself. I'm not sure what kind of socialization Roy had once upon a lifetime ago but he's far too friendly to have always been a feral outdoor cat

I didn't mean feral. My DDC was the runt of the litter and her mother wouldn't feed her. She was hand-fed, so one would think she'd be very used to handling and okay with it, but she also was in with her siblings as a kitten, and they picked on her, so I think it's more of an ingrained reaction to physical uncertainty. Self-defense mechanism.

no i didn't think you did. I meant roy. I don't know his socialization but i know he had to have had some before someone abandoned him

they aren't technically but he's so starved, that the extra protein won't hurt him. I usually only give it to him on very hot day since the moron won't drink the water i give him

and yeah Lupin's male...like i said male cats do this, i haven't had one female who didn't. strange. It's probably some love/mating ritual

i've heard that petting cats turns them on. this disturbs me because i love my cat but not in *that* way.

my friend has a female cat that does it, but she says she's just trying to nurse. i dunno.

male cats bite in mating which is why my brain went there. It could easily be a dominance thing as well

My alarm clock is the same way. I have another battery powered clock next to my regular clock... that I hardly ever remember to set. :-S

My cat is female and, though she does bite, she doesn't draw blood. Well, not human blood. She prefers moles, mice, etc. type vermin. She does like to scratch more than bite though.

my females were calm, the men whiny and bitey

Well, Cockleburr - called Cock for short - wouldn't bite me if I wasn't messing with her. Hee hee. I'm gonna touch yer belly, I say. She swats at me, grabs a finger and gnaws, "No you ain't, you stupid monkey!"

Hey, Mattilda does that - once she's done with the attention, she'll bite to let us know she's through. Though she varies the bite depending on who's on the receiving end, I somehow always get the hardest bites...
