Winry waved Ed out of Alphonse’s bedroom. “Let him sleep, Edward.”
He pouted at her. “I think he’s having a nightmare. He keeps having them ever since he’s been back. Al says he doesn’t remember the dreams,” Ed said, following Winry downstairs to Granny’s living room. “But I think he does. I think he’s remembering that awful place.”
“I wish there was something we could do but we can’t.” Winry managed to get Ed ensconced on the couch but she despaired of getting him relaxed. He had been hovering ever since they got Al back. An image flashed in her mind and Winry couldn’t swallow the laugh.
“What?” Ed’s eyes narrowed suspiciously as if laughter was utterly inappropriate at the moment.
“Just remembering when you used to give Al nightmares on purpose.” Winry flopped down next to him.
Ed reared back indignantly. “I never.”
Winry snorted. “You’re a big brother. Of course you did. Remember telling him ghost stories until he got so scared he slept with your mother for a week? I thought Aunt Trisha was going to skin you.”
Ed chuckled. “That was forever ago…and fun. Served him right. He was plotting ways to make you marry him. So I had to come up with ways of my own to win you so you’d marry me. This was before we knew you had something against short people.” He eyed her evilly.
Winry patted his knee. “I remember your way of getting my attention. I wouldn’t have married you because you were stupid .”
Ed wrinkled his nose. “It wouldn’t have been stupid if it had worked.”
“You tied your mom’s bed sheet to your wrists and ankles and tried to fly off the roof,” Winry reminded him.
“I was nine. I really thought I could make like a flying squirrel.” He wagged his head at his own naiveté.
“More like a rock. You broke your arm and I bet you still have that scar on your butt. Don’t…” Winry’s eyes flicked down as if she were rethinking what she was about to say. “Show me.”
“But,” Ed held up a finger. “You knew why I did it. To impress you.”
“You certainly did. You were the dumbest boy I knew,” Winry said and Ed’s face fell. On impulse, she leaned over and kissed him lightly before getting up. Winry walked away from the sofa, glancing back over her shoulder teasingly as she left the room. “You never had to impress me, Edward. I always loved you.”
“Wha…you…hey!”
Winry grinned, hearing Ed chase after her.

I'll be looking at the other links over the next few days--lots of good stuff there!
