Blog for Choice Day

I abhor politics. I hate talking them. I tend to skip over friends' posts with politics in them. Feel free to skip mine. Keep in mind I'm not going to debate with you pro choice vs pro life here. I'm just putting this out here mainly because I've seen some frightening changes lately. To be honest I'm pro-using-common-sense. I don't care who you sleep with or how many but I'd rather see some common sense and safety being practiced (and having worked in medicine and other places dealing with children I know how often common sense is ignored)

That said, I feel we should have a choice. What bothers me most are the states that have now disallowed abortion even in cases of rape or incest. Nothing like victimizing a woman twice. Ohio, before the election of the new governor, had been considering (and probably still is) disallowing abortion even if the mother is in dire medical trouble. Um let's review here, mom is dying thanks to the pregnancy and you're like no, too bad. Do we not understand both mother and child will die?

And on a sadder note as many of you probably already know Heath Ledger died today. what i find ironic is this news article with his publicist calling for respect meanwhile the article mentions at least twice he was found nude. yeah, that's respect. I liked Heath. A Lot. I felt guilty staring at him in Roar a decade ago because he really was a teenager at the time. I watched every episode of that silly show for him. I even sat through that godawful A Knight's Tale for it (but even free tickets they offered us at the show for Joe Dirt could entice me or [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog to see it. Now I want to see his role in the new Batman that much more (especially since it seemed to have contributed to his mental unrest)

The Order was great! It only could have been better if he'd made out with Benno Furman.....

I remember reading a while ago that there was one state thinking of outlawing abortion in the case of rape and incest, did that actually go through then?

Although I thought that Roe Vs Wade made abortion a federal issue and States couldn't just ban it, was that overturned too or did I just have the wrong end of the stick?

equally frightening are many of the same people pushing for no abortion are also pushing for no cervical cancer vaccination because it will lead to wild sex at an early age (the vaccine needs to be administered ideally when you're a virgin) and I'm thinking this is the stupidest thinking I've ever seen

We've had groups complaining about that as well, their insane troll logic does not seem to resemble our earth logic.

I'm not sure if it's comforting to know it's not JUST Americans who are insane or utterly terrifying....yeah that latter thing

I am definitely pro-choice as well. :)

And, yes, I'm quite bummed (and shocked) by the death of Heath Ledger. He was an amazing, versatile talent, and I really liked him in "Monsters Ball" and "Brokeback Mountain" and was/am really looking forward to seeing him in the new Batman movie. He was so very young and a Daddy which just makes it all the more tragic and sad.
