I think my rawr icon fits this, a bunch of tough ladies getting together as it turned out. And out, if you had a post/story you want me to see point me at it. I'm not scanning back four days worth of stuff. sorry.

I had a nice drive to Cleveland (such as it is, remembering how much Cleveland sucks to navigate). My friends A and L were waiting for me at the hotel. It was great seeing them again. We hung out and talked for a long time then went to the Hard Rock Café (purple hazes, yum), talked and ate. N’s sister came with her little girls who were so cute and not the least bit shy.

Apparently Tower City Mall closes early so we went back to the hotel room to wait for other friends of ours to show up. E and C arrived together and wow, so good to see them. My class, however, has been so unlucky. E &C, like me have been taken out of practice but their injuries have been so much more severe and yet their spirits are just amazing. We all talked well into the night then spent time watching hundreds of bats swooping around the skyscrapers.

Friday was commencement and that cleared up why we had to get our caps and gowns on.

before the graduation, me and the blue shirt and the live lily water fountain in my historic hotel

Why they didn’t just tell us that I’ll never know. Remember Friend B, she joined us today with an I’m Pregnant bombshell. Also meet up with Friend T and her husband. We were in the Allen Theatre in Playhouse Square.

from left to right, E, A & B

It was the first graduating class of our new school plus the graduates from the 15th, 25th, and 50th classes. Mine (the 15th) had such a POOR showing. We were embarrassed. In fact only our clique came. All girls and one guy (poor A, all alone adrift in a sea of femininity, yeah I’m sure he minded. HA) Commencement was DULL. Seriously keynote speakers take note, NO ONE wants to hear you drone on forever. Speaking of drone, they piped us out to the sounds of bagpipes.

We then went to the new school and the reception. It was nice to see some of the old faculty and the new school is to die for.

new school

It’s in a nice suburb, no bullets to dodge, no crack houses all around and as if that wasn’t enough the insides are state of the art. As T said, ‘time to adjust the jealous hat’ Any of us would have killed to have had this 15 years ago. My GPA would definitely have been higher (no being top 10 percentile wasn’t enough for me as is)

a whole darn bunch of us

cadaver lab!

We all went for dinner and once again talked into the night.

Saturday we had a free day until the evening. Though L had to leave us so E &C and I took her to the air port while Friend A&B went back to Coventry (one of our old hang outs) We did a little shopping had a nice lunch then took Friend A to the airport (she couldn’t stay for the Glass Slipper Ball either). The ball was…frankly the most disappointing part of the trip. Don’t get me wrong. We enjoyed ourselves. Everyone looked beautiful. We really got to talk to two of my favorite profs and we met two fascinating ladies, a pod from the 25th year class and her companion, a homeopath. Crab claws, chicken Wellingtons, shrimp shooters, smoked salmon and fig and Gorgonzola tarts were delicious.

me and the glass slipper

Dinner was…disorganized. Half of us got menus weeks before half didn’t so I didn’t get the option of opting out of the ‘surf’ part of the surf and turf (I like smoked salmon nice and thin, big salmon steaks not so much) but I was mellow with gin and tonic and really the salmon was delicious and the filet mingon better.

At Dinner front row E&C, back row T, B and me

The disappointing part was, after the Hall of Fame inductees spoke (yay to Dr. Spencer one of my favorites from back in the day), they did the live auctions. I couldn’t afford anything (though did take the ten dollar chance on the 800$ white gold and amethyst bracelet since heck there weren’t many of us there). E won a beautiful bracelet and a great trip but once all the money wrangling was done and in spite of two hours of dancing (the band didn’t seem to realize it wasn’t 1957), EVERYONE left, including the faculty like someone pulled the plug. I found that tacky. So we hung out with T and her husband until the bus came for them then went back to E &C’s room and ….in spite of a 6;00AM meeting time we talked until 2 AM

Asian influence

hoping there are better pictures of me on other cameras

Then I couldn’t get to sleep. Three weddings = drunk idiots howling outside. Then there was a loud fight, then the cops, then a street race. I was SO dead by the time I made it to breakfast on less than 2 hours sleep. Cleveland was so torn up and to get to the museum I wanted to go to meant a jaunt down gang territory as a result, I passed. The Hard Rock was sold out so we took E to the airport and since C lives in the Pittsburgh area we caravanned home.

I tried to get to sleep here. Failed. Sucked it up for the family picnic. My brother made me mad at that orthopedic moron in Rhinelander all over again. He did one tug on my bad ankle and said, you ruptured the major stabilizing ligament. I know. I said so. The doctor there didn’t believe me. He’s going to give me some PT. Will try to see a podiatrist in town when I go home.

It was so much fun seeing everyone again. It’s like we never left. We plan to get together at least once a year now. Probably at seminars but at fun ones. It was, however, COLD. It still feels like march out there. There was frost.

as others send me their pictures there could be more. you've been warned!

WOW You looked AMAZING in that red and black asian number! Was it comfy? It sure looks comfy...

And I'm glad you had a nice time. I even learned something - I'd never heard of or seen 'shrimp shooters' before. *swoons* I could do those all night!

Your grandma needs her head twisted off for calling that blue blouse a "rag." It's beautiful. The Asian set looks great on you, too. Too bad more of your group didn't show up, though.

I was so disappointed by that professionally. On the other hand those who were there were my closest friends (there were three other sets who didn't make it sadly)

I KNOW I love that blue shirt and the Asian pantset
