I got my ring. Well as I suspected the ring lady at Macy's was off her nut. This ring is ENORMOUS. I can a) maybe wear it on my middle finger b) wear it on my thumb c) return it and pray the next size down isn't too big.

At least my collegues all agree with me on the subject mentioned yesterday.

Someone ran me off the road twenty feet from my house. A moron in a red truck talking on his cell phone (which i do believe is illegal here). Luckily it was the area with the soft berm, no harm done. If it was the other side, I'd be upside down in Rocky Creek.

I'm still in mourning over the Star Trek experience.

Even the dragon cave wasn't cooperating today. and [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog and [livejournal.com profile] adeliedreams are right. Mozilla has done something to itself. It was barely functioning at work (I don't have it here)

I don't know more about the premie twins but my cousin with the severe cancer has actually NOT died in three months and is almost cancer free so yay.

And thank you all for inputting on the poll (or go do so now if you'd like). It really is a race between Vegas and St Augustine now. Speaking of mourning, the idiots in St Aug tore down the bridge of lions (I bet the historical society really appreciated that). Also offered that would probably work Savannah by [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn and Gibsonton FL by [livejournal.com profile] elfbiter among other good suggestions.

Eh... OR you could have the ring professionally sized so that it fits perfectly instead of somewhere close. It's also much easier to size a ring down a bit than it is to make it bigger once it's too small. I strongly recommend this route.

Edits: I'd like to know why when I tell LJ to quote the text it doesn't do ANYTHING to set it off from other text. No blockquote, no italics, no nothing. *rolls eyes* I had to go back in and correct it manually.

dunno never actually tried to quote it.

at this point getting the ring done cost MORE than the ring so ...no. If i had paid full price i probably would have though. THe thought of shoving the ring sizer up the moron's ass at Macy's also appeals. i didn't THINK my fingers were that fat

i might just be able to exchange it

I like the idea of Gibsonton, FL. I mean, think of it: the carnival rides all broken down, the genetically mutated humans, the creepy tents, etc.

Right now they're hovering between St Aug and Vegas

My mom got her ring sized recently and it just cost her 30 bucks (was a tad too small so they added some gold to the band). We went to a place called Raskins Jewelers. So, maybe the next time, just head straight for the jewelers? Most of them do downsizing for free along with a test to make sure the ring needs it or not.

the jewelres are asking an arm and a leg (like 100$) and their test told me a nine. WRONG.

this is why i was loathed to buy a ring on line.

Aww. I got a ring resized for Cotillion last year so I could wear it. It was one of those 'has been in the family since the beginning of time' sort of things, and we took it to get it downsized at Kay Jewelers. A day after we drop it off, they call and tell us that THEY BROKE IT. It had to be basically molded onto an entirely new band because the idiot who must have done it went a little too crazy with his little torch and I nearly didn't have it in time.

And we haven't told anyone about it. What they don't know won't hurt them. :3

Running me off twenty feet from my place would end you up in the neighbor's HOUSE. The one they're trying to make pretty because it's been on sale for 2 years and they're asking too much for it. I'm surprised no one's done it, it's been empty since it went on sale. The neighborhood teenagers/idiots have already squashed everyone's mailboxes in the middle of the night 4 times in the past 2 and 1/2 years.

Everyone's been talking about dragons; I may have to go check it out. :3

My grade school principal died from cancer a few months ago, and while it doesn't always happen it's always good to hear about happy-ending stories. Hope the babies will be okay! :D

that's why i never had my grandmother's platinun ring resized for me.

asking too much seems to be the in thing. I think people watch too much HGTV and think they own mansions

the dragons are oddly additive

myuncle and granddad died of cancer.

That's also why we're never doing that again. :3

At the time it was built, it cost what they're asking for it (like $350 - $400K), but with the housing market being crap these days and just that it's nearly 35 years old and the fact that when we moved here, our house (like most in this neighborhood) turned out to have a lot of inspection problems they never told us about, so no one wants it. It doesn't help that we literally are out in the middle of nowhere and it doesn't get much advertising.

Maybe I'll have to jump on this dragon bandwagon. Looks like it's going somewhere fun. :3

Aww. - hug -

Only 8 days or so till Fire & Ice is over. Of all things, I've been fic-bugged by the prompt I used for my picture. Is that illegal or anything? I just don't know which one I want to use should I get a nice fic written, and I'm not sure you can do both. ARGH. Damn bunnies. D:

Ha ha. We bought ours for a little over $220K when it was really worth nearly $300K. We got a bargain 'cause they wanted out fast, just so they could move into their brand newly built mansion-thing 8 miles away. :D

I was going to comment in the community on the thread we had going, but I wasn't sure if it was still checked regularly (or at all) since the challenge is still in-progress and the deadline isn't here yet.

I had originally voted for Vegas, but I would like to change that. After thinking about it more, she's right. Vegas really is over done. I think St. Augustine, FL would be better, because
A. I had never heard of it (how many other people have, I wonder?), but it definitely sounds interesting
B. I like to learn about new places with neat bits of history et al while reading fiction - and I think other people do/will too
C. You could make it the new Savannah!

And wow, glad your cousin is kicking her cancer - That's great news! Also glad the twins are hanging in there. Best wishes to all.

I'm still hovering between Vegas and St Aug.

Vegas is pretty unheard of in vampire tales (or at least Ithink so...) It probably better suits them than St Aug but I need to consider it.

And here I would have thought St Aug very well known. It's a big tourist destination

and thanks
