Mom and Aunt are on their way home. We did get a lot accomplished.

1) clean rug (spilled tea on it already)

2) bookcase (will take picture)

3) hung up SOME pictures. Couldn't hang the ones i really wanted to because there are next to NO studs in the walls (hope the big bad wolf doesn't show up or he'll blow this place down in one puff (will take picture)

4) stuff got to goodwill

5) got hair dyed. Am feared of the color (it's still drying) Mom's a pro so she gets the good stuff but we've never used Wells before. Usually my dye is purple and it dries to dark auburn. This one was the color of tomato puree...

6) rearranged crap in the living room

7) rearranged crap in the kitchen

8) didn't murder anyone

9) need to make up an exam.

10) i think my aunt would take Roy if for some reason i couldn't keep him.

WOOHOO Roy. Your step mother is kinda scary. Almost reminds me of Fagen. Wonders if the girls are real sisters or foster sisters. And how did you end up in foster care and for how long before you ended up with Hawkeye. Oh the story possibilities. One wonders if you're outfoxing Father or if you're going to end up outfoxing yourself.

Edward, smart boy. The way you handled Pride was wonderful. Poor Poor Alphonse.

Mr. Fu and Ran Fan, ah you're just so wonderful. And thank you for the how to use Qi lecture. That's good for the story fodder too.

So...does anyone else see Ed, Roy and Al wanting to know how to learn to use Qi (and Al being the one best suited to learning...)

Hayate, what a clever pup. Way to outrank poor Fuery.

and it's Florida weather out there, 90+ with humidity also 90+. The past two days have been the worst all year (figures just when there's a major house cleaning project...)

Adopt one today! Shield

Adopt one today! two face the sequel

Adopt one today! Hoping for a firemaking boy (need I say why)

Adopt one today! Just because i like how they look

ETA - holy heck is the wind picking up. I shouldn't have made that crack about the big bad wolf

ETA 2 - Great, TORNADO warnings. I TAKE BACK the big bad wolf crack. Honest. Oh and womb, while I appreciate you waiting until they were gone but cramps like this just ain't funny. I'd tell you to shrivel up and die but that's what it feels like you're already doing.

and puts a bit of truth to the he slept his way to the top rumors... Roy certainly learned the glad handing, flirting way of getting what he wants

In some ways, that can also make it seem that he's a less...savoury character. And yet -- layers! He's even more complex than we knew already.

right. To the people using Madame Christmas and her band of intelligence gatherers, this is a GOOD thing.

It also puts a new spin on his relationship with Maes

Yes, I was musing about Maes yesterday. If Roy was a bit cavalier about the idea of sleeping his way to the top, it would almost make their joint plot to get him there somehow more...ruthless. Or it would feel that way.

One thing that would redeem Roy's character, though, even if there was that streak of extra ruthlessness, would be his motivations and his care for the people who are travelling with him. So it wouldn't be as cold and calculating as it might be otherwise.

(So much fodder here, with just those few panels in the manga!)

nods, exactly. Though I think Roy cares very much for the people around him.

It also adds a layer to Roy's recruitment of Edward

Do you mean in the sense that Roy would even recruit children if it would help him get to the top? Sort of a "whatever it takes" attitude, no matter who might suffer along the way? Or perhaps not quite that bad, but at least being ready to use whatever tools come to hand even if the tool is a 12-year old kid?

I felt we already saw that, so I wonder if you mean something else that I'm not thinking of?

no i meant more in that he himself was taken in as an orphaned child and taught survival skills. Roy does this with Edward. Not even knowing the boy, but realizing what he's done, Roy shelters him, brings him under his wing (don't tell ed that) and sends him on missions usually to gain intel while actively keeping him from the worst situations if he can. Probably a lot like was done with him (but obviously he didn't give Ed the etiquette lessons Chris gave him)

D'oh! Of course. Tht whizzed right by me, but that's perfect.

I hope this whole thing about Roy's past gets developed more before the end. I'm biting my fingernails wondering if there's even time. It would be awful if we got that little tidbit and no more than that.
