cornerofmadness: (rin smirking)
I was afraid I might not with this weather. I am definitely going to try to weather the next storm front here and if I miss my meeting on friday I will not care. I'm not even feeling so well so...

I only get to see her a couple times a year and for the last several we've met at the mall. I don't mind. it's fun to wander and talk even though neither of us are really shoppers. She's doing well and we did have a good time. Mom sent me off with a dozen Macy's coupons. I couldn't use them on what I bought but who needed it. I found a heather grey wool bolero jacket that was 140$.I got it for 20$. I have a coworker who thinks I'm putting on airs because I shop Macy's. I'm like you get things at the 50-75% off racks. You get good clothes at Walmart prices.

She got me a gift card to the pyramid collection. Yay, fancy clothes. Her daughter was really shy again when she showed up but I think I know why in part. (other than the kid's natural shyness). When her brother was older, I used to go to the small townhouse and spend the day. He got to know me. Now that tiny townhouse isn't our meeting place. If I see her daughter more than twenty minutes a year it's a miracle. Ah well. It's always good to see them.

and some more pro writing news here

This was even harder than reccing my own for two reasons. One, I have an amazingly talented group of friends and two, if I was incapable of remembering my own stories, what do you think my chances were of remembering someone else's? Yeah, pathetic, I know and thanks to [personal profile] evil_little_dog for prompting my memory.

from lyric-nonsense I have a Thomas/Justine story from Harry Dresden's universe.

Underneath the Skies of Lust

From [personal profile] evil_little_dog I have an Ed/Winry story from Fullmetal Alchemist. It's not finished yet but I do love it. It is depressing though (as is the Thomas/Justine story for that matter) Devotion

And since I'm also incapable of making decisions, here's a tie for third.

From Leni_ba have an Angel & Drusilla story from Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe.

Speak Into Nothing

and from [personal profile] bay_alexison a Roy/Riza story from Fullmetal Alchemist Not Enough Time

and I did go introduce myself to someone new for Day 4

Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner

Well DW ate my first post so I’m trying this again. I keep running across some difficulty with these but this time it’s not my poor memory. It’s that my fandoms are getting old and smaller by the day.

I do however have a few recs, all on livejournal. I do very much like [profile] fma_fic_contest. It’s had several moderators but [personal profile] bay_alexison and [profile] a_big_apple have been running it for years. It’s a weekly writing contest for Fullmetal Alchemist and it’s writer/reader voted on. It’s fun and with many of them having low word counts which help hone your craft especially in making words count. They also have to find banner makers. It’s a lot of fun. And most of the people in the community contribute a lot to keeping the fandom alive.

I should also recc [community profile] fmabigbang. [personal profile] enemytosleep ran it for years and this year [personal profile] catw00man & [personal profile] zippitgood are at the helm. It can’t be an easy community to run because you have to match artists with writers and keep people motivating toward those big word counts. I’m afraid I’ll fail at it this year because of pro obligations.

Lastly it I need to include [profile] open_on_sunday. It’s not as active as it once was (think about how long Buffy and Angel have been off the air). It’s a drabble community for BtVS/AtS and it must be a 100 word drabble. Right now [profile] leni_ba has stepped in to take over putting up the prompts. I don’t write for it as much as I once did.

While it’s also waning as fandom moves to another forum I’m a little too busy to follow, but [community profile] fanfic_bakeoff run by [personal profile] vexed_wench. It’s multi-fandom and a fun prompt community.

As for individual authors adding to the library of fiction check out [personal profile] evil_little_dog.

too late to do anything about it now. Wed. might be nice. It's nowhere near as bad as they said. The damn temp won't drop. It's like drop already so I don't have to worry about rain THEN a freeze.

Mom and I went to Macy's (yes again, different store though) and Costco. We also stopped at our usual Chinese place but we've never been there for dinner before (boy is it getting pricey) I got to have something I've not had before, ginger chicken.

I did clean up a bit at Macy's. Wanted to try on some Clarks but there were only 2 people working and no lie nearly 2 dozen people wanting help. I said screw it. I DID however get two purses for relatively cheap (especially since they were more than 100$ originally). I really liked another one that was heavy leather and faux zebra done up as a pelt but 55% off was still 200$. No thanks. I also got a wool dress coat in red, a London Fog that was down to 100$ from nearly 300$. I didn't mind that price since I should have it for years.

This morning it was coffee and a show. It is rare to see a fox, even rarer to see them in daylight and rarer still to see two but to have them mating on the yard has never happened here. I hope when the time comes, they bring the kits out into the yard so mom and dad can record them.

I found out my publication date on Kept Tears is Jan 27th. Cross your fingers on me seeing cover art soon.

And back to the snowflake challenge.
