And the hits keep coming
Sep. 4th, 2024 11:03 pmIn addition to more family drama I don't want to get into, yet another school shooting to feel helpless about, the mafia horror story I was shortlisted for didn't make it. (Obviously not equally weighted things here)
They want it (potentially) if they do another companion piece to this. That's nice. I see another villain centric anthology that I'm going to chuck it at. However, it does hurt when you go all out research wise for something and it fails at the last second. That's the writing game (and if I'm honest I'd love to turn this into a novella/novel but oh the research it would require.)
I'm in serious pain today and saddened at talking with my PTA in physical therapy today (as he was yet another student at my school and worked for them and it was sad having some of my worse suspicions about school practices in the past confirmed). Sigh. All I need is for the job to hold out another decade.
But I do have good things in this post because surely you're tried of my whining. I have the photos and August's books (how is it September?)
What I Just Finished Reading:
Don't Let the Forest in - Another YA horror, I enjoyed it but I'm not sure about the ending, had some of my least favorite tropes
What I am Currently Reading:
Execution Dock - Anne Perry
Native Wisdom - Ed McGaan, I'm remembering why I put this on a shelf 30 years ago...
The Heir of Bluescale - this is self published and boy this is why self pubbing had such a bad name for so long. I'm not sure I can make it through.
The Boston Metaphysical Society graphic novel I just got from Kickstarter
What I Plan to Read Next: the stuff I just got from the library
August's Reads. You know the drill, read my reviews and if you wanna talk books, let's do it
( books under here )
( Portsmouth )
( River Circus )
( Hopeton Earthworks )
And last but not least Happy birthday
